I have several batteries from my Aerobird Challenger, Firebird Commander 2, and Slo-V. Thought I’d try them out in my SC and see what happens.
First tried the 6 cell 1000mah battery. Centered it in the box and put foam spacers in to keep it from shifting. The plane took off and climbed just fine. It flies slower than with the 7 cell battery and comes in slow and smooth for touch and goes. Flight time was 14:30.
Next the Slo-V battery, a 6cell 600mah. Needed more spacer foam. Again it took off and climbed well and flew even slower. Flight time 6:30.
Finally the 7cell 600mah Slo-V battery. The plane took off fast and climbed fast but could still fly slow at low throttle. Flight time 10:30.
I like these lighter batteries because the plane flies smoother and slower for doing touch and goes. The penalty is lack of aerobatic flying (except maybe with the 7cell 600mah) and shorter flight times. They likely will not work as well with wind, it was calm when I did this test.
At least now I know I have a bunch of batteries that will work with the SC.
