Do the 8 cell 1500mah ELITE battery packs from Cheapbatterypacks.com fit into the stock battery bay on our SC's or is some retro-fitting required?
I have not measured the standard battery length but do see dimensions on their website.
It stands to reason this would be a popular pack if it fits without hacking. Maybe that's why they are out of stock.

SCC, I was going to say WOW you paid more for shipping than your plane to have those batteries now! I am guessing I'll have them by this upcoming weekend, I too am interested to see how much they prolong the maximum output of the battery. Will keep you posted, although I am doubtful they'll have stock for long sounded as if CBP were anticipating a windfall of orders. Wayne

I just got 5 more lipo's in today. They are 1200mah and fit nicely into the SC. I only paid 25.00 a piece for them too. Here is a link to the guy who I by them from. search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZhwansoolQQhtZ-1

These batteries are good. Great retention of initial zoom and runs are extended. I have not timed my flights yet but have noticed my ability to cover more air without batteries killing as in the 8 cell 1000 MAh batts.
On CBP their service was good. Turn-around time was in the 24 hour range and shipped from Oregon to central MN in 2 days.
Hope this helps the few that were interested.
Mr. Mugen I am interested in the LIPO's advantages but not at all in the extra attention needed to properly service them.

wjcr,
How much extra power do you get from the 8 cell Elite compared to the stock 7 cell? Can you rate it on a scale from 1 to 10?
I timed my 7 cells yesterday and I got 8 minutes doing loops, spins and just flying around and I got 10 minutes flying as slow as I could the entire flight.
Thanks, Todd

Power increases are significant from stock 7 to 8 cell. It also seems these 1500 Elites have more punch than the HZ upgraded 8 cell 1000 MAh. I realize they're the same voltage but they do seem to deliver power better. This is only a seat of my pants feeling hence I do not have a meter to measure output. Mr. Mugen has suggested this to me as a very necessary item and will be affording one once I get off my duff.
Nonetheless I have only run about 5 packs and not yet have I hit the voltage cut-off, the wind lately was too much to land dead-sticked, yesterday's winds were 13 mph. That was my maiden day of flying with these new batts.
By the way, fit is tight. There is not any wiggle room at the battery box entry door but they do and will fit.

wjcjr- Lipo's are not as bad as they are made out to be. Always charge them at 1C and you will have no issues with them. I watched the "horror films" too. They overcharge them to show you what could happen if your absent minded one day. I've been using lipo's for over 2 years now and never came close to anything like that. The power is like having 2-8 cells in there. the weight difference allows you to add other stuff to your cub. They are approx. 1/2 the weight and 2x's the power. Once you go lipo you never go back. Anyone need any 7 or 8 cell batteries cheap? I have about 12 7 cells and 2 8 cells that are like new. Bought them then said to myself "what the heck did I just do"? I will sell them cheap too. Like 3-7 cells packs for 20.00.

Thanks Kevin for wetting my whistle; I am interested in those performance numbers and will surely meddle in the dark-side some day. I think I will stay here though in the sub-Jedi form for now.

Best of luck with the discount shipping! Anyhow I did some timing today. I ran the plane, again really windy, for 8 minutes before having to stop. The glare was unbearable and I left my glasses at home. Got back to the field changed packs and flew from 4:33 to 4:44, landed. The wind was terrible again so I landed before a dead stick situation. I then stood in front of the elevator and ran the motor switching from 3/4 to full throttle until 4:47 when the voltage cut out was reached. Now the 11 minutes of flight was ridiculous. The wind was bucking the plane and full throttle was needed to make decent headway. Then the additional three at again hard throttle brings you up to maybe 14ish minutes mostly gunning it good. I will make another report once I can fly on a more acceptable day. Weather Channel said wind was 10mph but it was WAY more than that a hundred feet up or so. Wayne
