Hello there flying bryan ,now which version of "the super" are we talking about ,i mean i started out with the nimh cub with the anti crash sensors on it ,first job disconnect the sensors ,they made it nearly crash .Personally i think this one had the best graphics ,with the red stripes and the super cub sticker on the cowling ,trouble was you replace the cowling and you lost the sticker . Then i had the lp version with floats and lights and lastly i have the "safe"s version .I think the safe s is overkill the cubby dont need it ,but yes she still gets flown occasionally ,although she needs a new tail section .But i think it is harder to find the supercub in the shops now ,with as3x and all that malarkey it is easy for new pilots to fly planes that a few years ago would have been second or third planes in line of experience ,plus there is a trend at the moment for stol planes with any number of bush planes on offer .On top of that what do we do if the flying authorities bring in the 25g weight limit they are on about .Anyway i am glad someone else is contributing to this site i was getting a bit lonely .chris

Hi Bryan ,i take it you fly other aircraft as well ,i mean we are allowed whilst still being "Super cub" club members ,and that is not easy to say quickly ,most of my fleet is immortalized in the other models flying section ,but the super is a good one ,taught me to fly and my son and daughter. chris

Blimey ,i wish i had been content with just one plane ,i followed my passion and over the last 15yrs i must have spent thousands of pounds, but i have gone full circle ,through war birds ,helicopters,q****copters ,until now i get more fun with a simple fms super ez ,mind you i have had fun along with the frustration when i crashed things and realized my skill level was not as good as i believed. Hi bryan ",i like that plain and simple ". i think if a person can be happy and contented ,that is the greatest achievement of all .I still find the moment when i push the throttle forward ,and the plane climbs into the air its still magical ,and that is the same whatever plane i fly ,even more magical when i can grease the landing

hi bryan ,so do you get out flying regularly , i mean at the moment i am furloughed so when the need for fresh air gets to me its a case of which one of the fleet is coming with me , little light jobs for low wind ,umx yak54 if i want to sharpen up my reactions ,and bigger wingspan for the wind .I tend to rotate my planes so i dont end up with hangar queens ,but having said that the grass at the park is very high at the moment ,which renders the warbirds out of action .I have a bit of a weakness for biplanes so the tiger moth and wots wot come out quite often ,plus i bought a dynam catalina secondhand and that is really relaxing to fly and sounds great with the twin motors, haven't flown it off the water yet ,but she scoots across the grass well ,as long as the batty is freshly charged as the long grass does grab a bit.And of course i have the night radian for lighting up the sky ,as long as i dont leave it too late otherwise its fine whilst i am looking up at the plane ,obviously the darker it gets the more impressive the light show is, then i look down to spot the landing spot and ,oh no i can't see the ground . i fly early morning when wind is low. lately it has been low wind, 5 out of 8 days. i have 3 inch balloon wheels, fly low and slow, with quite a few obstacles to keep me on my toes.

hi there ,yeah i can follow that ,first thing in the morning before the dog walkers start congregating .Its funny i have been down the football field before 7am ,not a bit of wind but come 8am ,and the wind kicks up .I live in aylesbury in bucks and today i took a trip to coombe hill ,which is a wonderful open space ,and a known slope soaring site ,national trust owned so no propellers allowed ,anyway i took my night radian up there ,as i remember taking another radian up there 5yrs ago. It was blowing fairly efficiently ,it took me hat off .So controls checked everything ready ,step up to the slope ,shaking like a leaf ,then get her level and throw ,i had nothing to worry about i eventually had to force the radian down two and a half hours later ,and even then it was only because i needed to answer a call of nature ,never had a flight like that in my life and all provided free by the wind. When i got back home and re-charged the batty ,it only took 30mins the radian could have gone another hour ,of course my camera batty died ,i was only going to film the first 15mins ,didn't even get that .So basically this hobby always throws up surprises ,not all of them welcomed of course .Chris

Yeah it was daft ,i suppose because the servos dont draw much power ,and with not using the motor .Because i was on the lip of the slope catching the wind in my face ,i ended up freezing my cogs off ,great fun though. The radian is such an efficient set up ,and that was with the leds on as well ,as it was a cold overcast day. Bit different to flying an edf jet ,about 4mins max with throttle management.I mean it was up there so long that i had to do loops and rolls ,and all sorts to keep my concentration up,and its funny but the lift is not the same all along the ridge ,there were dead spots so i had to jockey about to regain lift ,then the red kites flew over and formed up on the glider and we went up in the wind together ,if only my cam batty hadn't died ,oh well next time .Chris
