Yeah that would be an awesome event to be a part of
to bad they do not have more of it
Still not good with FPV...
can buzz all around fast and zoom...put goggles on and go slow and hit everything
if I speed up it's worse...lol
did not think it would be that difficult to adjust to seeing how i am use to videos games and simulators
I do not have a any new sim that i can use goggles with
but stick movement should be the same but for some odd reason it is like have never held a radio before the minute I put goggles on it is strange and frustrating
been wanting to get outside to do so...instead of inside
but these winds refuse to stop
has been beautiful weather otherwise very warm and sunny
I would be in the same boat...I would get the broom not to sweep with but probably over my head...lol

"Oh well in our minds we are all Hurricane pilots", are its like this ,i remembered the transmitters and batts , remembered the planes, i mean who would get all the way to the field without the planes ........ ,done that before ,not as frustrating as taking the planes and forgetting both the transmitters i mean who would do that, no today i had the yak 12 un gremlined and flying her best ,and the dhc2 beaver back on wheels, i love the beaver on the floats, but the nearest lake is a good 45mins walk ,and the lake warden is an arse,so i am missing out on the planes full potential, anyway two nice take off and landings, actually its when the take offs and landings dont match, i have had 1 1/2 before and taken ages with spliced up canes getting the plane out of the tree ,anyway nice flying and all but i forgot the cams, i mean im not saying that the planes would have been in the picture all the time, that"s just for professionals but there may have been a fleeting glance of a tailplane as it zips past, it would be better to put the camera on the plane and throw myself in the air

...Glad my field is close, I have forgotten one thing or another never forget the planes, just everything else...lol worse is having the camera but forget the SD cards and wonder why they did not work ? Wheres the video ? Duh...no card... waited my whole life to fly war birds, I now fly them but in my mind all the loops and rolls and all that..stays in my mind would crunch my birds if tried any of that . hey and any pic is better than none...lol

Over the last few flying sessions i have been trying to rotate my planes, to check them out and get them reliable, you know any little repairs that needed doing and such like, so that i can just pick them up put in a batt and fly.the trouble with having so many planes is that ,i dont fly any one regularly enough to get really settled with it. its funny any plane that is reliable becomes the favorite ,then i stop flying it so often because i dont want to lose it,or dont have the money to replace it . i think i was lucky at the time when i was able to work ,i increased my fleet as i pleased ,now i have more than enough to be getting on with. if i manage to get back to work ,i will have to asses what i want and what i really need . anyway its all about learning new things ,like camera work for instance ,i will eventually get a handle on it , but dont hold your breath

well it is about the same here I went nuts and bought so many, some far beyond my ability at the time Now I can fly them, but all are discontinued and if any damage beyond glue they would never get repaired ( no parts available for most now ) . But I like certain planes . I like flying them all, But right now I have to say the Sportsman is my favorite . It is such a joy to fly and once again I see it to is discontinued for the second time One thing I hate about Horizon Hobby and its affiliates . they bring out great planes and they have a few issues and instead of fixing the issue and making it right, they simply discontinue it instead This Sportsman came with SAFE and GPS and it had some issues and a crazy procedure to set the GPS correctly and it had a virtual fence so it could not fly away ( main reason i got it ) But I learned fast in a place like mine, it was not a good thing, as if it hits the fence it will go the shortest distance to get to that 120 feet altitude circling it does that would mean even into the trees to get there..... BUT they came out with a V2 and all they did was fix the crazy dance you had to do to get GPS lock they did away with it and just had to do a simple set up ( they could have done that to start with ) simple issues that could have been fixed, instead discontinued. But an excellent airframe and perfect for my rough field by taking off the wheel pants and adding larger wheels fixed that issue simple enough they did later come out with a rough field landing gear set, but was smaller than what i had but still nice .....( something else that should have been done to start with ) Like the SE5a...a Great airframe, perfect fun flyer as is the Archer Both discontinued way to fast . A few minor adjustments and they would have Great planes...But nope discontinued instead I saved money to start in quads and FPV as it seems sooner or later this hobby will get regulated away and or as time flies by, I will not be able to care for the field anymore or something of that nature.... so will have to stay in my yard or in the house now broke and have no funds for anything else.... so here we are the 4th of May and have not flown at all beautiful days, sunny , warm, and Horrible winds it is maddening ....can't even practice the quads outside ...... I wonder sometimes if I should have done something else ....

Hello Ed ,same here for the discontinued airframes, its funny with the se5a,vids keep coming up years after it was axed , mind you horrizon have a habit of either bringing some back with "safe", or as E flite versions ,so perhaps it might come back. i think the essence of park flying is that we fly what takes our fancy, we soon find our limits ,one way or the other. but every new plane we buy is the same in that,we know roughly what the plane should do ,but their is still that apprehension when its all new and shiny and you dont want to break it, but mostly i think its confidence and watching you tube vids to see how the plane handles so you know what you are letting yourself into . the one plane that really scares me is the umx yak 54, blimey that little thing is on a hair trigger, people think that because they are small, that they are easier to fly than the big ones ,NO i fly something like the acrowot to get in the zone to fly the umx 54. chris

the plane that surprised me and gave me a run for my money
is the UMX Pitts....
that little guy is fast and can do all sorts of aerobatics
For me it is hard to keep up with and I cracked a wing on it once
so I did install a SAFE board out of a UMX Habu to calm it down for me to fly
it helped me a lot and has kept me from destroying it
I will try and do loops and rolls with it and know I have that quick level when i need it has saved that little plane a few times

Well i had one of those sessions again with the 190, she would"nt take off , then one of the legs fell out . i have been weighing up the options ,and gone for the fixed u/c option ,i shall see if it works tomorrow, i hated doing it but without it ,it just wont get airtime. i mean in the future if i ever get any money, i might well buy another warbird, and just run it until the retracts pack up .if the stiffer u/c works it may give more take off speed to enable rotation on a two blade prop, hope so that"s what its got anyway

It worked a treat, i cut an aluminium u/c i had spare off a wot4 , then with wood mounting points in the wheel wells ,and the arms canted towards the leading edge of the wing, i put bigger wheels on it as well ,it rolled out nice on what was three inch grass. i moved her to a better take off area and she went up and settled into the pattern really nice,i was still looking for the switch to retract the u/c .if i was good i would post up some picks,i did take some vid but it was not worth saving. i had fun with the se5a and yak12 as well, in fact the yak tried to kill me. i have a trick i do with the yak and the supercub, at certain points around the field there are benches , the one on my side is right on the hedge line, so after take off i walk back and fly whilst sat on the bench ,this is ok until its time to land, and i remembered the hedge line behind me, i managed to cut the throttle and put a hand out to catch the 12 whilst falling off the bench and laughing , no damage to anything ,mind you i dont think i will try it again lol

Hello Ed , trust the yak it will get you back in the air and relaxed, also i see parkzone have reintroduced the trojan £130 pnp, bit dearer with the safe receiver, i never had one of these ,with my field i worry about a tricycle u/c ,well the front wheel anyway. i see Horrizon Hobby have bought great planes and estes rockets from Hobbico, i hope they got Flyzone as well, i think they are re badged st models, both good makes. we have had the warmest may bank holiday over here since records began ,with no wind, mind you since" Pres Trumpet" ,came out with his speech the other day about the London hospitals awash with blood from stabbings ,the nutters have come out in the nice warm weather to shoot each other instead . the heat seems to start a bit of madness over here ,drugs i suppose. anyway hope you get some flying in real soon all the best .chris

Hello ED , well the weather is much the same as you have at the moment ,warm and blue skys but too ruddy windy. i have been trying to get as much flying in as i can, as next week i am in hospital in London from monday till friday having tests done, to try and find out whats wrong, last thing the doctors mentioned ,autonomic dysfunction, i know why cant they just say, you"ve gone wonky sir and be done with it . anyway after being incarcerated for a week the wind better have died down, i will be climbing the walls searching for a transmitter , of course if they fix whats wrong it may improve my flying got to be a good side to things ,as long as they leave me with a sense of humor ,anyway if the wind cuts down a bit i might still get a chance of flying over the weekend, and inflicting you all with another vid. how are you getting on now ,any nearer to flying down the "unique",from what you say you must hopefully be getting nearer, anyway all the best. Chris

I hope that get you fixed up Chris
well another very beautiful and nice day but with still some gusty winds
as I am typing this it is 79 degrees
and wind gusts to 16 mph, sustained winds 8-10 it is slowing down finally
winds were 15-20 and gusting over 25+....so it is dying down
going to try and fly my quads in the yard later...trees and buildings make for some wind blocking, may help some and hopefully the winds will die down even more as the day goes along .
suppose to be a beautiful weekend as well, hope that stays true
still basically waiting...my time will come , I need to get my planes down and check them out and make sure all is well...one Yak lost a Prop the other evening just feel off, hit the floor....rubber mount on the prop saver broke.
falling apart hanging on the ceiling ...lol
