Hello everyone, I needed to build a new Super Cub as my old one has had enough. I have taught two people to fly using it, with more crashes than I can count. Both people now have cubs I built for them and are off damaging there own now. It was a really pleasure teaching these guys and with the buddy box cable things went along fast. Saved a lot of crashes using the cable for sure. But each one took it's toll. My new cub will be a mix mash of things, going with green and white, loosely going to look like the L4 Grasshopper. There now four of us that fly these awesome planes, one red/white, one yellow/black, one a pale blue and now mine will be green and white. I added alirons using two 9 gram servos, maxed the elevator and rudder controls, added a 50 amp esc, also added a 3536 1450kv tunergy brushless motor and have done my first flight this evening. All went well trimmed very easily and flew very well in the 14km winds at sunset tonight. -18 with the windchill so one battery was enough for me. Going to add a few pictures as I go along with painting, then a video clip in the video spot on here. Happy flying everyone.

I admire you guys who take the time to teach others and allow them to use your birds .
Good to see the SC's are still going strong and getting some use.
Can't wait to see the end result of your build.

Thank you for the post, We have great fun with these cubs. I think if anyone wanted to upgrade these guys going with alirons would be the biggest gain. Both of the guys I have taught could not believe how much nicer the "FEEL" was with my aliron version over the stock one for their first flights. I decided against the Grasshopper paint scheme I think it would have been to hard to see at dusk and dawn. I seem to fly the most at these times. I went with the green and white though, only my own idea for color placing and numbering. Going with black letters, numbers on the wing section that is white. trying to decide on a wide strip on the side in white, decisions, decisions!! lol .

Very nice looking plane. Question, are the wing struts stock? They look a little different. Thanks. Scott

Hello Scott, No they are not stock. I have added a bigger motor and things to my cub, so I have plenty of power. Adding the wing struts has no effect on mine at all. They are made from the protective covers for windshield wiper blades. I work for a local car dealership and they are easy to come by. They are very light and I think they look much more "factory" like to me.

Just took my cub out for a water run. I have never flown off water before so today was just a taxi around trip. Was still just fun just the same. I think I might try a small flight after supper if the wind stays down. youtu.be/kuMHCtZbd1k
