I have not been here all that long and this forum was here for a long time before my arrival.
Seems at one point it was A Buzz almost daily and a wide array of folks were here always chatting about something.
But it seems the forum as slowed way down over the past couple years .
Is the Super Cub fading out ?
I must say i do not fly mine all that much, But as far as Cubs go I still fly other ones. Just wonder what others think about it ?
I know many grow past the Old Cub and have moved on to other planes ,as i also have done, but the SC is as sentimental as my Champs. The Champ being the first plane I flew successfully and the SC being the next.
As I progress in the Hobby, I do not fly it as much, but i still like to fly it and i still like the 3 ch plane
Even with the ability to do far more with other planes in my rather small location, I still admire the SC in flight.
So, is the Super Cub slowly fading to you ?

Personally... Too many beginners are going out and buying low wing warbirds, smashing them up and never touching a model again. Thats why the cub could be fading out. Another reason could be that peole simply do not know the super cub exists. For example in the 3 towns near me in the UK, not one of the model shops stock a cub, they just stock the un known brand 4 ch trainers. Just my thoughts... Personally, i think the cub is and will always be the best starter out there

I don't think the cub is fading, it is a great plane to start with, in my opinion beginners should start out with a high wing plane, but with new tech coming out such as safe, & ax3s, it almost too easy to start with any plane, the learning curve is not too hard anymore, but I gust that's progress.

As a total beginner, with only an iOS simulator as flying experienced, I was naively seduced into a Bixler (I love that plane now btw) as my first plane. I'd watched youtube videos of these planes being flown with ease and people saying what great beginner plane it was, everything looked easy!
Fortunately, from an RC forum , an experienced flyer got in touch with me and helped me get in the air and advised me to get a SuperCub (or similar) and get time with that...I am so glad i took his advice. I don't think I could have flown the Bixler (or any other plance) solo without the SuperCub experience....unless I took a few crashes and spent a lot of money on spares/repairs.
I can just grab this plane now and pop out for an hour and it's so relaxing, with or without Safe mode on....it'll take a Mobius easily and with the XT60 and battery box mod done, I love it!!

Supercub's are still flying strong in Texas! We still start everyone out on a SC where we are. Introductory flight, first lesson to solo, all on the SC. It's still the first plane we recommend for purchase too. I still start out every day we go flying with a battery through the SC to knock out the cobwebs. My only bird on floats too. Welcome to Neil also.

I've progressed to six channel low wing planes now, but nothing beats the high wing stuff for confidence building and training.
And the way a supercub flies is just perfect to teach a beginner about aerodynamics and effect of power, etc. Landing practice is great too, as it will take as many noseovers as you can throw at it while you're learning to flare. Mine still flies and I love it. It doesn't see as much air time as the SportCub, but if I had unlimited windless skies - it would.
