Hi all. Been a while since I've been on the forum. Starting to look at other model planes now and BNF seems very popular . Can my Spektrum Tx be used with any bind and fly model please? Looking through Super Cub manual there is very little spec' info. I would also like to know how many channels does it support and are there other receivers that are compatible ? Thank you.
I have just been in touch with Hobbyzone, not too helpful when I asked the same question. I was told to use a compatible DSMX or DSM 2 Rx. ? any help with this please?

I don't know much about the 4e - but...
DSMX transmitters (TX is short to Transmitter) will work with all DSM2 and DSMX compatible receivers (RX) - and yes, that includes ALL BnF models. Your radio will work on up to 4 channel planes only.
DSM2 Transmitters will work with all DSM2 compatible receivers - that includes a lot (probably nearly all since a lot of DSMX RX work with DSM2 as well) of the BnF models.
I don't know what your radio is (but Hobbyzones response seems to indicate its DSMX) - it may say somewhere on it, but Spektrum will be able to tell you for sure if you email the serial number. I think they made DX4e in the earlier DSM2 and later upgraded them to DSMX.
If you aren't sure you could buy a PnP or ARTF model and add electrics, or RR (receiver ready) model instead and add a DSM2 compatible receiver.
BnF is great, its how I bought my Supercub - but its an expensive way to buy.
Hope that clears the fog a little.

Cheers Sham, I am more of a petrolhead/mechanical fella myself and I really don't do Electrics and electricery. I would like to add to my "hanger" without all the extra expense of a Tx but I get dubious "Oh you might as well buy this" attitude when I enquire at model shops. See my other enquiry about batteries.

First which DX4e do you have ? is it the older model with just a 2 way toggle on front left corner or does it have the 3 position toggle switch? It does make a difference. IF it is the newer model it will bind with all DSMX and DSM2 Recievers and IF you are going to buy a receiver Always buy a 6 ch receiver such as the AR610 for example...that gives you extra channels for LED's or Flaps whatever should you decide to update and grow in the hobby and maybe buy a 6 ch radio later Best thing to do, is IF you are gong to progress in the hobby, it is always best to buy what you need to do so You can buy many products in classified section of many RC forums and save some money by doing so Example you can get a 6 channel Orange radio from Hobby King for about 70 bucks and it is compatible with all Spektrum receivers as well.( will work with the Super Cub you have now ) And you can buy the orange Receivers ( about $12 US dollars )and they will work in all planes you wish to put them in. Orange radio here hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__54822__OrangeRx_T_SIX_2_4GHz_DSM2_Compatible_6CH_Transmitter_w_10_Model_Memory_and_3_Pos_Switch_Mode_2_.htmlOrange receivers here hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__46632__OrangeRx_R615X_DSM2_DSMX_Compatible_6Ch_2_4GHz_Receiver_w_CPPM.htmlgives one something to think about . Hope that helps
