I changed the prop size from an APC 10x4.5 down to a ABS 9x4.7 and it made a great difference. The smaller prop seems to have allowed my motor to work easier maybe. I can take off smother and slower with a bit more throttle movement on the radio. Not near as touchy on the throttle either. I'm working on my NEW cub, bought a new fuse, wing, tail section and nose cone. Going to try and make this new cub " pretty", the one I'm flying now is pretty rough. My buddy Tommy has a saying " never get to attached to your plane, because they won't be around long" I'm not sure I agree, I have had my first cub for two years or more and my last one for over a year both are still flying and I love them both. I have more expensive planes but none more FUN than theses guys!

Hi I should have mentioned that in the thread. It has Turnigy D3536/5 1450KV Brushless Outrunner Motor, 50 amp esc and a orange box receiver, and I fly most of the time with a 2200amp battery( about 14 mins @ half throttle). It was all by accident as the wrong motor was ordered in. But I can say without hesitation it is a great set up. Lots of power and turned a great plane into a even better one. I have also added alirons as well. I have ordered another set up the same for another Cub I'm building. This poor guy is my Guinea pig so to speak. I'm able to fly scale, but have enough power to get into and out of trouble. LOL ,seems I get into more than I get out of though. Brian

The APC is a thin electric (fat hub skinny blade), well suited to that KV of motor. The ABS would appear to be a slow fly (small hub, fat blade). It has more "torque", probably why the take-off is easier. Being shorter it .....may... be pulling less amps, BUT, being FATTER it may NOT be. Only a wattmeter will tell for sure.
FWIW some brands of the ABS style of prop (GWS SF comes to mind) are really floppy and weak and not a good candidate for higher KV systems. If that blade changes from a whir to a 'fluttering roar' when at full throttle it is distorting and you should find a better/stronger brand.
