Not something I would advise one to do, but being on a road rarely used is not to bad
FPV would have been better you would have more control and ability to see what was around you or heading towards you if anything turned down that road.
But again that is not something I would do or tell anyone to do .
To many things could go wrong...and sadly all it takes is one mishap, and that could cause allot of bad things as a result.

I would never suggest anyone do this, it is something I planned on for a while. It was fun to do, but I was totally prepared to let the plane drop to the fields on either side of me, not land, just drop. If we had met a car I would have either circled the area or just put it down in the field. So everyone is clear, there is one house on this road and those people knew we were trying this out. If it is better to remove the video, let me know how.

Knackered, it was fun for sure. I'm planning a trip this spring before our national park (Cavendish Beach) opens to the public to fly along the coast and record for about 10 kms if I can get the battery to make it. lol I have a friend who works there and were trying it in a open golf cart along a unused trail (till June when the park opens) for biking, should be fun. I wonder would it be worth going into the Atlantic ( salt water) to recover the plane if things go wrong!! Taking my kayak just in case.

This used to be done quite often according to a good friend of mine. They'd fly all over Texas from the back of pickups and station wagon. Used to see who go go the farthest the fastest with their older gas-powered planes.
Be nice if the golfcart had a rear-ward facing backseat like mine does.

I believe it does, will check to be sure. I'm looking forward to trying it. I have an old friend he's in this mid to late 70's, he was the first to tell me about flying from the back of his pickup truck and thought it would be fun to try. Of course seat belt laws won't allow that to happen so the golf cart might have to do. I was thinking if I have too I might gear up a seat of sorts where the clubs would stand at the back of the cart. I think it will be weird moving forward and seeing at all where I'm going. Time will tell.

It would be nice to fly my SC from my sidecar, but none of my friends can drive the sidecar rig or they have no experience in flying to ride in the hack and fly the SC. My sidecar rig is on my trailer and in need of reassembly at present, but maybe in the future I can get it up and running and give it a try. That is, if I can teach Sailor to either drive the Ural or fly the SC. He doesn't have his driver's license yet and we probably need to check our liability policy before we let him do any driving, anyway. Regardless, even as unexperienced as he is, he is still a better drive than my wife. :-) I figure that if I could shoot rabbits while riding on the fender of my uncle's old 50 Buick and bucking up and down in the cotton fields as a kid, I could likely take photos or video of the SC while riding in a truck or such. Unfortunately, I don't have that old Buick anymore to see if old habits come back like riding a bicycle or not. :-)

Here is a couple Vids that shows scary flights from inside a car..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eEBmNFAhZkwww.youtube.com/watch?v=eT-MyPDnf4AI think it is a cool idea...BUT should not be done in area's where there is traffic and or the danger of bodily harm to others Why I posted what i did The above video's show why such things should not be done Again one mishap could result in some pretty horrible consequences for others and even this young couple. again a road not traveled as jb cub showed above was OK, ( I would not recommend it ) but one has to make that Judgement call themselves FPV would be better , while doing it I would think ? My 2 cents worth , if it is worth anything. Enjoy the vids.

Very cool videos, I'm looking into some FPV stuff. while I think it is cool, I like to see the plane I'm flying. I think it would be easier to fly once you caught on to the idea of the plane being out of sight. I like the look of my planes in the air, now it would be cool to have someone fly behind or around my super cub while it's in the air. That would make some cool videos I think. Thank you for posting. I can only assume you sleep with one eye open, I would be very nervous about sleeping at all if I made a comment like that about my wife!!! lol. You know the 50 Buick today would buy a lot of Super Cubs!!

No, a healthy dose or three of gin or vodka in her tea and a couple of dozen Benadryl tablets keeps her too sleepy to get up and chase me around the room. Duct tape works wonders, as well, so I do get some sleep after all, no matter what remarks I make about her. :-) Here is a '50 Buick conversion that sits outside a local Mexican restaurant here in Wichita Falls. Thieves took the hood ornament to it, so nothing is really safe these days from those who steal. The hood on those old Buicks opened and latched on either side. If they ever fell on ya', they would remove your noggin for sure. Notice how the light brow is crooked over the right headlight....

You are one lucky man in my books! How ever the duct tape does seem like a great idea some days ! lol Nice car and a cool idea as well. It almost looks like it's winking, lol My dad had a 56 Pontiac ( If memory serves me right) and it had a straight 8 and a split hood.
