Would anyone happen to know the threading and pitch on the float screws?
I'm thinking about tapping the holes in the mounts to ease assembly. It seems no matter which screwdriver I use, I strip the snot out of the screw heads.
Thanks

Replace them with allen head screws and it will certainly be better. Don't forget to either paint those screws or dip them into Corrosion X, as they will rust in time. I did mine, but I don't recall just what size they were. I took a couple of screws to my local hardware store and found them there., I believe. However, once your down to 4mm or less, most hardware stores don't carry such and you may have to use a hobby store. It has been too long since I swapped mine out to remember the correct size. I'll search through some old photos and see if any have mention of the size. The phillips screw driver your using may be the problem though, as I believe it requires a Japanese screwdriver instead of a regular one. Not sure what they are really called by name, but they somehow fit into the X much better than a small stock screwdriver. UPDATE: I looked at old photos of my SC, but no info on the screws listed that i could find. This photo may or may not help, but the screws were replaced to the floats with allen head ones. I believe that a 4mm X 20 was what I used, but I could be totally incorrect, as it was so long ago. A self-tapping screw may work, too, but I have no real idea. Check out that plastic strip along the floats, as the glue can come undone at the corners over time, as mine did. Put a little tension in pulling the wire away and see if the ends lift up on those plastic strips or not. Good luck with your fix.

Thanks for the info Coupe. I had the same issue with a float set that the corner lifted also, used a shot of hot glue and solved that problem.

I have no tried it, but a dab of clear nail polish to each scre2w head may also prevent rusting.
