Hi all, this is my Super Cub S after 7 flights, & after some minor bingles, I'm still able to say it's alive, with some minor 'experience' scratches. Lolo Im from Sydney, not a member of any club & use a Spectrum Dx6 as I want to progress within the hobby. Would love to hear feedback from others whom have been in my postion and have progressed up to the next plane or those that have a Super Cub S and can tell me about a switch that changes the 'GER' postion on the controller. Looking good on the landing strip! I can't offer advice on the SAFE system (which I guess is what the GER thing is??), as my plane doesn't have it - except that it seems to me that you want to keep it in beginner for as low number of flights as possible to learn to fly without the aid.
As far as moving on is concerned - a lot of people mod the cub with more power and ailerons, but I never got the idea of this when you can buy that performance in a new plane for similar money. I went for the Parkzone SportCub as my second step - lots of power, ailerons and flaps but still a docile high wing tail dragger. It will take performance aerobatic play and fly as gently as a Supercub.
Others move onto something totally different - low wing, warbird, etc etc.
For me, it seemed a better idea to learn ailerons, flaps and speed in a more familiar airframe, so low wing and trike undercarriage is the third plane - currently under construction. I'm hoping this approach will make my new plane when it airworthy a slightly less steep learning curve.
The most important thing though - enjoy the cub and let it teach you all about aerodynamics, because with the safe system off and flying on your own you can learn a lot - mine is the LP, so SAFE was never an option and the ACT system on mine is terrible. But I found that the little thing has an awful lot to teach about how a plane behaves when flown well, and more importantly how it reacts when flown badly. The low power and low wing loading is so awesome for that.
My Supercub will remain the first plane I fly everytime I'm at the field - its a great way to warm up for those planes that need more concentration.

Not sure what you are wanting to know about the "Switch" or "GER" ?
the DX6 manual explains how to set up the 3 position switch and the "panic Button" that the SAFE system has.
EDIT:
the Super Cub S manual does not show the set up for a DX6, but the DX 9 is the exact same set up use it.
here it is
start with a Blank model ( do a Model reset ) name the model
Set dual rates High 100% and Low 70%
1. go to system set up 2 Set Model type-Airplane 3 Set Channel assign-click next-go to channel input Config: GEAR D AUX.1 4 Go to Function List 5 Set SERVO SETUP: Reverse Aux.1 That results in- Switch D operates the 3 SAFE Modes- 0 Beginner, 1 Intermediate , 2 Advanced The Bind-I Operates Panic Recovery
