I just won a prize over on RC Groups it is a RC Logger Eye One Extreme Quad-copter Looks like this www.rclogger.com/RC-EYE/RC-EYE-One-Xtreme/RC-EYE-One-Xtreme-Mode-2.htmlI wanted to get into some quad flying as i have a IRIS Quad ( it had issues and had to get it replaced ) which I now did ( have not had the chance to try it again tho ) Anyway this is smaller...be nice to buzz around my yard Thought about getting into a little FPV flying...Horizon has a new FPV set up coming out and will be great to use on any plane / Heli / quad , including micro ones www.horizonhobby.com/products/SPMVS1100?utm_source=DoItYourself&utm_medium=SPMVS1100&utm_content=ShopNowCTA&utm_campaign=FPVStaticPageThat price looks expensive, but compared to most everything else out there, it's really Cheap. Would be nice to set on my porch and have the ability to fly around my yard.....several tree's in it...but with the on board view and a small quad / micro plane this set up would be perfect to do so, without running into anything because of limited view . looks to be a possible future project. Since I also have a Slow Stick ( i need to build and get in the air ) this little FPV cam system would be ideal on it's slow fly capability in my field. Just some thoughts if anyone is interested . Enjoy.

Good result, congratulations! I have to say, that this little machine shows everything I find concerning about the trend for quads though.
Its so automated (auto hover, on something this small?) that its getting picked up by anyone and everyone - and while I know you will abide by the rules and respect your friends and neighbours privacy, there are plenty of people out there messing around with these things. I see them everyday in the city where I work and it concerns me that when people inevitably get hurt by a falling machine or upset about them filming that the regulation of our hobby will become too tight to be enjoyable... people will only be able to fly in approved locations, for example. Don't get me wrong, I like the tech and in the right hands the photography is amazing.. but the ease of use and the popularity of them with people who just want a gadget and have no interest in the hobby is alarming.
At present, in the UK at least, the regulations are fairly relaxed - but even so I could potentially have inadvertently fallen foul of the "surveillance" regulations (which changed since I last looked into them without me being aware) and the distance you need to be from other people/property when flying with a camera. To be safe, I deleted my videos - even though it seems unlikely any problems would have arisen and I don't actually think I broke the law. There's a lot of people (most of them) who have no idea that there are rules to stick to, and as such they are causing problems when they go and buy what they see as toys, or gadgets.
When flying with a camera, in the UK, there are some clear (but fairly relaxed) rules about where you can and cannot fly an RC aircraft. When flying without a camera, as long as you stay away from controlled airspace and follow basic safety rules - then its open season. Of course, I'm protective of this freedom.
My nearest RC club is about 15 miles away, which sounds OK. But to go there requires forward planning and not just "quick, the wind has dropped - lets charge and go!". I've been to my club many times, and each time the wind has been too high to fly foamies - even if it was OK at home. If the laws get tightened the way some folks want, my involvement in the hobby would effectively cease... I would be down to flying a few times a year at the club. The cost of membership would be pointless and I would just stop. As it is, I pay my membership and go to the club to socialise and hope to fly. Then I fly when I can near the house... its fun.
Quads concern me... not the machines, its the people.
But don't get me wrong, I hope you enjoy yours - you certainly aren't the kind of quad pilot that will cause problems.

Thanks pasquale91
and Sham I know what you mean. Right now the FAA here is trying to stop FPV flying altogether. They are trying to re-interpret the law they agreed upon in 2012 concerning model planes.
And it is the knuckled heads who are doing crazy things, mostly with quads that is causing some problems.
And like many things if they change it here eventually it will make it's way there and other places as well.
I searched and hunted and made calls, went place to place to get permission to fly in my area and it was great to get that permission to do so in a field I can see from my home and one I grew up around and even tried to fly in the first time , many years ago when a family owned it before the Interstate took the property.
I was sad and then angered by the local club here that would never return a call and would not allow anyone in their locked gates and or would not take a few seconds of their time to talk to me about their club and what i needed to do to join. One tiny local Hobby shop here they all went to and even left information with the owner there to no avail. I gave up trying.
So I believe flying is a privilege not just a right.I sure do not want to lose that because of a few idiots.
I also would like to fly in my yard itself....never know when those abilities to even go down the road a bit will get to be impossible. Already have had many health issues that have helped limit my flying this year ( back issues and a foot issue ) would have been great just to have sat on the porch and flew in the yard. Of course with the many tree's in it, they block the wind , but they also block the view...something a small quad and FPV would make easier to see where I was going.

By coincidence I too now have a quadcopter. It's a new model and yes with GPS which living here is all but essential due to almost constant winds. In many respects it's almost like learning to fly over again, more difficult than I thought but great fun. Like sham I live a long way from my flying club so this is ideal in that I can take off virtually anywhere. Some really good points made by you guys and on the question of regulation (potential) I'll just add that if we allow any rights to be removed without a fight we deserve to lose them. That there are idiots about is without question but what is needed is education not more rules. Freedom was hard won and so easy to lose. www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5Obq_wJpOM

Freedom was hard won and so easy to lose. www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5Obq_wJpOMThat Quattro Quad looks great . It's different than flying a plane that's for sure. But once you get the hang of it , it can be easier believe it or not. I sent a response to the FAA myself as i am sure many have. I believe in regulations and rules and Law...but not at the cost of personal freedoms. Why should the majority pay for the cost of the few ? Seems the past 15-20 years that minority concept is overriding the Majority rule. People can vote and pass a measure and than one whack job Judge will step in and say it's Unconstitutional . Our Government all got together with the FAA and others and made a law and even made an entire section to cover model flight and now after it has been the Law , the FAA now says it is Re-interpreting what they agreed upon concerning it. Once again the "few" making the law for the "many"...... Drives me nuts. Anyway sorry for the ramble, hope you enjoy the quad. It's good to be able to fly close without traveling a distance to do so. Of course my field is in sight of my house, another great privilege .

Another thought about possible future regulation of the sport: Here in the UK, our national security people recently asked the British Model Flying Association (our national representative body) to be on the alert for covert terrorists practising with model aircraft / drones etc. and to report any suspicious activity. This follows actual incidents in the USA, Germany and Spain involving extremists using or plotting to use model aircraft for their evil ends. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2689474/Model-plane-enthusiasts-Watch-terrorists-Police-fear-practising-hobby-training-attack.htmlIt would come as no surprise to see a move towards a licensing system, using the 'war on terror' as an excuse. Governments love regulation!

Governments love regulation! I can understand the concern, but an easy out with that one is do like they did in New York City. they do not allow anything to fly over the city for example that same concept could be used at Government buildings or special events etc etc...and even Police using the same Quad-model plane counter-measure to take potential terrorists out...... But as you say the Government will use any excuse to get their way. But as a community of RC Pilot's they are the ones to weed out potential trouble makers and should be given that authority to do so. When some whacko is buzzing his neighbors house or sneaking over their fence to film the Ladies or now days even someone's kids the Shoot down should be made legal.... that will end that debate really quick. Issue is the criminal process they would put you through after you did. here in my State where carrying a gun openly is no issue that ability can happen really fast. Some places just going on to someone's property can get you shot. But the gun debate and the illegals crossing our borders at will...anything can happen here now days. Now I read where a 100 or more Americans went over to fight with ISIS and are now back in the U.S. My question is our Government last year made a Law calling America a War Zone, giving them power to even call American citizens enemy combatant's and can be held indefinitely without representation. SO...why not the 100+ Americans who came back from the Middle East after wanting to fight with ISIS ? Shame criminals and potential criminals have more rights than normal citizens.........
