Haha! I run without the skirts, and find bent landing gear a thing of the past.. But this may be a coincidence. I prefer the looks of the skirts, but had to straighten out every few flights. I think the wheels used to catch and lock when the gear flexed on landings.
It looks good, just make sure there is enough slack to allow the gear to flex without any catching.

Some planes do work better without the skirts though. This is my little Coke Can plane that proudly flys on my back porch overhang. It has no skirts. :-)

We get ome really, really high winds down here at times. I am surprised that it has not taken flight and wandered off from it's perch on my back patio, but it simply hangs there and sails smoothly, despite the wind currents buffeting it. Sort of interesting to watch at times. Probably is Cola powered. :-)
