We've had a couple of lovely weeks, actually more like a couple of lovely months. But I was working. Then I had 2 weeks away from work and the weather was lovely but the wind only dropped once. Now its rainy and windy, and just unpleasant.
I've flown my models, I think, 4 times since May.
And it will soon be winter again, and winter means only one thing here. Months of wind.
Depressing.

I have only flew during the day, I think 3 times this year, all because of wind I have dealt with that since last year ( see most of my posts)...seems the winds hardly ever cease to blow...why I have been flying at dark and after dark..last few weeks it has blown hard even after dark...... ...missed a great weekend out of that frustration this weekend , Sunday was overcast but no wind and I did not even try to fly, that is how frustrating it has been. It has been so discouraging . Allot of home projects need done ( slowly getting them done ), I also have many RC projects I have not even started on as I planned, add health issues and limited ability because of it sometimes and one can have those blah days...this weekend was one of them. I know how you feel.

Yesterday was a lovely day. No wind and clear blue skies.. Until I got home from work. By that time it was dark and miserable looking. A storm brewing but still no wind. I had time to charge the SportCub batteries and head out.
I paid the price for not having much stick time recently, and not flying the Supercub first to warm those fingers up. A mistake I won't make again. If I only have time for one plane, it will be the Supercub.
2 batteries, and the first 2 bad landings that the SportCub has had. I was lucky to take the plane home in one piece.
The flights were good, but the plane surviving the dire landings unscathed was just dumb luck.
Every day is a school day.

It's all a learning experience When I joined my flying club a bloke said to me 'I'll give you the best advice, never, ever, love your plane 'cos it's going to get damaged and eventually will die.' Get the best transmitter you can and love that but never your plane.' Pretty good advice having all but killed my Spitfire, TWCE! Poor thing looks like a foamy/Gorilla Glue hybrid. SC has had a few knocks but still looks like a SC, difficult not to love it though.

I love all my planes, .....hate to see anything happen to any of them..but it is what it is....still love them tho...
Hey Sham do you use the flaps on landings ? what about take off's ? I have read/ watched Vids shows it lands rather easy and smooth using flaps, pretty STOL type landings/take off, at times it appears ?

Yep, flaps deployed and it does land easy.. Just not when you fly like an idiot Its STOL is astonishing. It will take off in about 6' with full flaps, about 10' on half. Landings are nice on flaps, slow and short.. You just have to remember to keep the turns shallow when flying slow. All of this counts for nothing if you're a ham fisted pilot that's a bit rusty and not concentrating properly. As I said, lesson learned.

Well that was better. Low wind, not still but 5-7 mph. At sunset, 6 batteries and 2 planes. I flew until I couldn't see and had a blast. Not a single dodgy landing even though I had an audience (there is a clubhouse at the park, and they had some sort of gathering). By the end I had about 12 people watching and a couple hunt around for a chat as I was packing up. A really pleasant evening.

Must be catching sham. I went to the club's flying field yesterday and got through same six batteries worth without a single mishap. Bit windier than yours at around 12-15mph. Brilliant, so satisfying isn't it.

You're not wrong. I've never had a disaster, like taking a plane home in bits, but it is unusual enough to have a perfect evening to make it amazing when it does happen.
But.. It happened again this evening. A better evening could not be imagined. Another perfect set of flights, on a perfect evening.
I'm going to complain about the weather more often.
