Ok as the winds blow night and day here it seems
and I have a break for a bit , a few days back late one evening I got a few still Pics of my flying field.
Hopefully when I get the Quad back ( hopefully Monday ) I can get a sky view.
Maybe this will give you a general idea of the challenges my location provides.
Where I stand to Fly .
Looking Right
Looking Left
Looking at the place I stand
The Pine tree is at my back
as several feet beyond it is the Interstate
Standing in the tall grass looking at where i normally stand
The Power pole behind it you see has a tall fence at the base
that runs along that side of the area.
On the other side of that Pole and fence is the Interstate
and it runs down that entire side
Why I keep it at my back when I am flying
At the bottom left of the field looking back up toward where I stand to fly
Standing at the bottom of the field looking Left
I made a trail around the field as you can see
I also have markers with ribbon and painted Bright red at different locations around the field
25 feet from the tree line as markers to keep orientation and not get into the trees.
At bottom of field looking Right at trail and tree line ,and markers
On Bottom trail, tree line behind me looking back straight up to where I stand
Standing at end of runway ( mowed patch ) looking back up towards where I enter the field
Can see my Mule .
I take off heading towards where I am standing to take this Picture
Standing on the opposite side of the runway looking back towards the place I took the last Picture
This is the direction I bring my planes into land on the mowed patch, Beginning of the runway as it were .
( also getting darker as a storm was coming up as well )
As I turned around to look at where I enter the field, I got a closer Picture of my Mule
Turned around and looked up and got this Picture before I left
As you can see the field is not that large....
As by the 1st. picture where i stand looking out you see the treeline in the distance
my Street is on the other side..you can see some houses through the trees
2nd Picture looking Right towards the Runway end the direction I take off...is another treeline plus to my back and as that side is narrow
is the Interstate Highway
The 3rd Picture is looking left where I come into the field and also a treeline
The entire field is surrounded by tree's
I fly out in front of me over the tall grass and the mowed patch I use as a runway. It is very rough terrain.
Some planes i can land there most I just let drift into the grass as it is easier to do and no damage done due to
a bad landing ( great cushion as a matter of fact )
As you see it is about the size of a small ball field
It was grown up really bad, tree's brier patches, tangled mess
Earlier in the year before spring I started clearing it and did pretty well..I wanted to take down the tall stuff
and just leave the grassy type weeds. It has grown allot since the spring.
Had to extend my markers to see them over the grass.
I have trouble orienting the distance to the tree line that is why I placed those bright markers, as now I know
in all directions from the markers to the treeline is 25 feet .
I normally stay inside the markers with most planes or I fly right over them, and have not put a plane in the trees since.
I hope you understand what I typed here
Now you see I do not have wide open spaces...but I do have a nice private place to fly and relax
enjoy.
