Got a Hobbyking Spitfire 24 the other week, aerolons, retracts, flaps, nav lights, the lot. Took a while to put together but lovely. Crashed it 2nd flight! Several reasons including discovered I was half blind in one eye with suspected detached retina, fortunately not so and should be ok in a week. I've got photos but this is the only forum I know where you've got to go get a Flickr account or something to post 'em and tbh I don't want one so you'll have to imagine.

Ouch, for the eye and the plane. Hope the vision returns as good as ever.
Is there much damage to the plane? I had a narrow escape with the Sportcub last night with a sudden gust while flying incredibly slowly on full flaps for too long... Lack of speed meant a very nasty loss of control.
Luckily I caught it a couple of feet from impact.
I hope the Spitfire flies again, and soon.

Best of luck on healing the eye.
Decent vision is incredibly important in this sport. One buddy having lots of problems with orientation got glasses and in the next session it was like he had been practicing for 2 months he improved so much. Another buddy was getting worse in spite of flying. Being over 60 I told him to get his eyes checked. When he did he found his vision below horizontal in one eye was gone, not a good thing. Further checking found a non-malignant brain tumor pressing on his optic nerve! RC flying got him diagnosed. Removed half the tumor off the nerve and sight + flying ability returned. Unfortunately removal of the 2nd half 6 months later also took out his pituitary gland which screwed up his entire hormonal structure. Not good but better than a malignant brain tumor.

Too bad. White gorilla glue works well on that kind of break. Looks like styrofoam?

I thought Gorilla Glue was an American thing but just discovered it's available all over the place in UK, I'll get some as although I've stuck it together there's still some gaps that need filling.

Sailor put some on a piece of paper or foil or in a bowl and mix it with water it will foam up allot and you can use it as a filler paste and apply it before it hardens..as it is curing it will foam up...have to work pretty quick, but it will fill those gaps and be light have you ever seen that spray insulation that when you spray it, it foams up and fills gaps ? that is basically the same thing this gorilla glue does...if you had soaked some of that foam in warm water that glue would foam up more with it. It's just getting that right mixture of glue mixed up.
