Hello Everyone! I am from Pennsylvania and I just ordered a HobbyZone Super Cub DSM as my first plane. I have driven RC cars and trucks for many years, recently got into quadcopters and now finally taking the plunge into airplanes. Many years ago I built a trainer kit (can't recall name now) and put a Enya .19 engine in it. Taxied it around a bit near my house (in city) but never took off. Well had some work and life changes back then and ended up selling it. I attended a RC Fun Fly with my son recently and this sparked the interest in planes again. After reading many positive reviews of this model I decided to purchase it. I have seen some posts here about doing some recommended modifications. I plan on doing some of those after getting some flight time on the SC. I would think first and foremost would be a battery upgrade for longer flight times, then adding the ailerons when I feel ready. Probably upgrade the motor to brushless around that time as well. I look forward to receiving my model and getting it setup and out on the field this weekend, if weather permits of course. *Update* - Just remembered what that trainer was from years ago... a Great Planes PT-20.

Welcome aboard, and greetings from this side of the Big Pond. You may wish to do some of those modifications BEFORE flying / crashing , especially as you are a newbie to fixed wing aircraft. This video explains some of them. (Ignore his first bit, about disconnecting ACT - that doesn't apply to your model). www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eA-RhCIkkQThere is also an informative series of YouTube videos by NeCubFlyer. Search that name on YouTube. Good luck, happy flying.

I didn't see about reinforcing the cradle and cowl before so I will do that as well. Update - Just received the model and it does indeed have the ACT. I have disconnected it.
