Found this 3 point water landing while researching floats... but what makes it a bit more unusual is the interesting use of prop as a retrieval aid... and, in spite of that, the apparent survival of all electronics... Super Cub Floats Failed Water Landing

Brushed motors will run underwater. The bearings and iron components may not like it if not dried out and oiled afterward. As long as the ESC does not get wet you are mostly OK. Just because it worked then, doesn't mean it'll work somewhat later. He also does not reveal if he treated the electronics before the event.
Note-Water is dense causing high resistance to the prop turning. The float prop is (excessively) large for the SC ESC. Push it too hard with that kind of rescue technique you can burn out the ESC even if you don't drown it.
I am amazed by the number of people that jump right into floats (meaning they can barely fly) without knowing anything about some of the additional complications involved. Often there is not even a plan for plane rescue should something go wrong.

Interesting video and as usual that then lead on to watching several more vids from the links and what is amazing is the number of people who don't take off and land into the wind.

Interesting video and as usual that then lead on to watching several more vids from the links and what is amazing is the number of people who don't take off and land into the wind. I see that as well and often do the same. Seems on my area the winds swirl so much, I can start to take off in the wind and about the time it starts up, the wind is either blowing from behind or a cross wind . I mostly still hand launch everything. Landing is a guess....again, I can start down into the wind and by the time you line up, it's blowing a different way. I do not have to tell anyone what happens on most all landings...none of which are actual good landings. ( cross winds most of the time ) not pretty at all .
