Checking back every so often , I see this board is getting pretty quiet.
I hope it is because everyone is flying ?
My issue is weather ( wind to be exact) as always huh ?
But i have been doing some experimenting on equipment and having to do repairs on others .
I can tell anyone who uses a SAFE Technology equipped plane , make sure when you first plug in the battery you allow it to
be level . It has to set itself and if it is leaning or setting forward or back some, it will set those control surface to that.
I had my SC setting on my bed and sat on the edge and as I plugged in the battery and the SAFE system set itself the Rudder was turned to the right and the elevator to up ( as it's suppose to be slightly) however when one would need to go to beginner mode and or that panic level button the rudder would be slightly right, thus landings or take off's would steer you to the right some..not a big thing, but if you wonder why your plane drifts one way or the other and you have to trim it all the time, You may want to check that out First.
There is really No difference in the SC with the older ESC in it as with the New SAFE Esc Unit installed. They both fly the exact same.
the advantage with the SAFE is it has the built in AS3X gyro system which is good in wind . It also if you wish it has the 3 position switch set up for 3 different modes of operation ( Beginner - Intermediate- Experience) and it also has that Panic button in case you get your plane all out of whack and need to get to level really quick and it does level pretty quick. It is good to have that AS3X system , i say is worth the money to install the SAFE Unit in my older Cub. It does eliminate the bomb or parachute idea, but I never used it anyway.
The SC is a great trainer and a good platform for beginners as is, but as so many still over control starting out the SAFE Technology does do it's job and what it is designed to do ( So if anyone decided to do as i did ), you are not really losing anything and you do gain if nothing else that AS3X stabilizing system that does work very well.
The Delta ray is a plane that has the SAFE/AS3X system and it does Great
I have flown my X 2 Heli and lost a fly bar link that sent me into a crazy flight and a crash...but I did accomplish a Loop with a coaxial Heli, something many say can not be done, it was not intentional , but it was still a loop.
I have since repaired it, but weather not allowing me to fly yet .
Also purchased a Pitts S-1S Bi-plane . A plane many are boasting can fly in 10 Mph winds with ease...I will be the judge of that for sure. As I have flown my Champ in 12 MPH winds before although not a good thing to do ( which caused my first real damage with it )but it will fly in stronger winds than people think.

I bought my Pitts from Advantage Hobby, got it at a discount.
Seems everyone is really having a blast with it, a truly aerobatic plane but also can be flown low and slow .
My issue is the new field seems to be a Nemesis, this year.
I have managed to put planes in tree's, crashed and broke 2 planes and even crashed my Heli thus far this year .
Seems I set watching the tree's sway in the wind more than I fly and even when it seems calm, the minute I hit that field the winds kick up .
I know there is plenty of Nice days ahead and it's not like I do anything else....so waiting and watching and getting that occasional quick flight in has been my time well spent ( the good thing about having a field so close and no one there ) I can jump and go and even if it is just one or two circles, that is better than nothing.
But I also must say, when one is not on the sticks often the first little bit is almost like starting over sometimes...the thumbs just do not want to do what they know to do, and makes for some interesting and scary moments as well.
O and btw , Robert is over on the RC Groups forum in case anyone wondered. Never knew what happened to him, he has advanced very far in this hobby .Great guy and he is always out flying .
I have way to many planes waiting to be maidened and my patience is running thin and checking all these batteries can be a pain....
But it is what it is....I have even been checking out some of those Nutball and wing type builds ( seems that maybe a winter project or two ) Flite-Test has allot of video's and information about the set ups and they even have plans and they even sell the pre cut pieces as kits all you do is cut them out as they are already lasered i guess...you push the pieces out and glue them up and they are ready to go.
Anyway...That is what i have been doing and I check back here almost everyday to see or read what everyone else is doing..but it's been to Quiet...but I hope it's because you ALL are FLYING ..........?
