Woot my first post!
So recently I did a brushless upgrade to my cub. I went with the Turnigy park480 1020kv with a hobby king 30amp esc running a 10x7 apc prop. My Dad had recently done the same upgrade but just bought the kit from Custom RC. His cub seems to have crazy more power then mine of the get go. Only difference we have is his is the 850kv and is running the Turnigy plush 30Amp esc. Is there anything I can do to get a bit more thrust out of the higher KV? different Prop? esc?
any advice is awsome!
Thanks

Do you have a wattmeter? Without it you are working in the dark. You can't just 'throw' props at it. Electric motors are fairly narrow band about what the handle. The prop IS the load. They don't care a fig about the airplane. And props vary a LOT. You can use 4 different 10x6 props and get 4 totally different results. There's a lot more to them than the numbers. You can use this thread as a guideline. www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1421633 What battery are YOU using? WHICH 10x7 are you using-thin electric (pointy tip) or slow fly (fatter)? It makes a difference. The ESC will not make a difference in this instance most likely, unless it's a lame one. IMO some of the HK SS ESC are lame. The ESC delivers what the motor+prop load demand, IF the battery can keep up with it. Theoretically you could get a tad more top end power at the expense of low end torque with that motor compared to the lower KV. On a draggy plane like the Cub you may well notice and appreciate the torque (take off, acceleration) more than top end.

Hello Fly,
I do not have a wattmeter at this time. As for a battery, I'm running a turnigy 2200 3S with a 30-40C Rating. For the current prop I'm using an APC 10x7E (pointy ends).

Try the 11x7e. Could be clearance issues unless you have large tires.

Thanks will give it a try, running on floats right now but do run on 3" wheels (to big IMHO)
I appreciate the advice.

Does your Dad use floats also? Floats are a lot more weight and drag.
