I don't know which would be better (or worse) in wind, Champ or NB. The NB would fare poorly with the flat side to the wind but the edge would penetrate better I think. The Champ has a lot of surface area in all exposures. You can also power and/or scale the NB to your requirements pretty easily. Larger and heavier fly better in wind, but at some expense of maneuverability. The Champ is....what the Champ is. Not much you can do there. A NB can be put together for very little if you have components laying around. If not, it's still cheap, probably about the same as that SAFE ESC. Too bad the SAFE is brushed, or you could put it on a NB. I have brushed motors also and since the ESC is built into the SAFE...it could still be done. Brushed Motor is heavy, but anything can be made to work I have two extra motors that go into the Delta Ray ( they are small and light weight )take ESC/Safe out of the DR and use it if need be. Many possiblities Things to consider...Thanks Fly

Not quite anything....small flat foamies need to be kept light, at least this one does. I flew a NB a buddy built heavy (lousy builder). It was awful, almost not flyable.

Here's another unit you might find interesting. EPP and nimble. Not sure if that much maneuverability is a + or - for you. Note the build link below the video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vanUL18VgRo#t=95

EDF is mostly a noisy inefficient prop IMO. Obviously some folks think they are cool. I obviously don't. Those little deltas go pretty fast and are nimble as hell. If you have trouble with warbirds, you may not like them. OTOH, the EPP ones are hard to break, and aren't terribly affected by wind. As long as you keep them out of the trees you can have a sporting time messing around with them.

I am not the fast flying type . I like the slower type flight. I do not mind some speed at times, but I do not like that on the edge of a crash feeling....to stressful. One of those smaller wings might be something to try tho . They seem to be able to float sorta slow as well , from some of the video's I see. I guess most people like that all over the sky type flying, rolls, flips, loops sort of stuff. I just like simple flight .

I could create an entire Forum on crazy winds alone 3 beautiful days , absolutely gorgeous , except for the crazy Winds Every time I thought about flying they got harder, I am serious . I was going to try and film a shot of my flying field from a key-cam attached to my heli, but it is just to windy. I could fly it a bit but to shaky and to try and film, The wind was just to gusty today and it is still slightly breezy even after it has gotten dark . What is Up with all this wind ?? I watch you tube video's of people flying in some pretty hash winds and seem to have little trouble, yet here I sit , afraid to try. Last year I would not have thought to much about it, but now it seems to freeze me from flying or even attempting to.? I watched them fly those wings in some pretty strong winds and they still flew really well . But allot of it is experienced pilots , which I am not. 05/24/2014 04:11pm

You certainly seem to live in a windy part of the globe, I feel very sorry for you so I wont talk about my lovely 2 batteries worth today. The trouble is if you can't fly for quite a while one gets out of practice and loses confidence particularly if it's above 5mph or so. Your time will come h just hang on in there.

Thanks Sailor Yeah I love these Mountains, but this wind as of late, not so much. yeah I believe that is allot of my trouble with all the tree landings lately. I use a Simulator off and on, but still having no real flight time for such long stretches makes for some entertaining flights when I do get to fly. Sometimes it's like learning all over again, and far to many mistakes and poor judgment.
