Hey guys,
This is my first post on these forums but I have been coming here for quite a while to research and to get help with my SC. I have owned a stock SC for about a year now and I decided to do the Aileron and brushless upgrade. Here is what I am looking to order for my setup so far...
SERVOS- HXT900 9g / 1.6kg / .12sec Micro Servo. (4)
RECIEVER- OrangeRx R620 Spektrum/JR DSM2 Compatible Full Range 6Ch 2.4Ghz Receiver w/ Failsafe.
ESC- Turnigy Plush 40amp Speed Controller.
MOTOR- Turnigy D3530/14 1100KV Brushless Outrunner Motor.
BATTERIES- ZIPPY Flightmax 2200mAh 3S1P 20C (2).
CHARGER- Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger w/ Accessories.
EXTRAS- TURNIGY BESC Programming Card, Billet Aluminum Motor Mount for HobbyZone Super Cub LP (Hobbyzone) and Master Airscrew 9x6 prop.
I haven’t ordered anything from Hobbyking yet and I just wanted to check to see if this looks like a proper setup. Being the “newb” that I am in this hobby I just tried to looking into what other guys were using and why. The biggest question at this point is about my transmitter for this setup. Can I use my DX4e that came with the Supercub LP with this setup? I’m not adding flaps so I should be okay? I’m not sure.
Thanks for the help!

You can use the DX__4__e (4 channel). Ultimately you'll want a better TX. Don't forget the power supply for the charger. Skip Master Airscrew, they are not very efficient props. Take a look at this for other options: www.flybrushless.com/motor/view/461

Thanks for your help.
In terms of a power supply, I'm seeing that using a 12V 5A power supply designed for a laptop or LCD screen is a popular choice for the Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger. Should be easy to pick one of those up from somewhere.

I use one of those. I also have a converted PC PS. There are youtube videos on doing that.

Hey, I have come across a challenge regarding motor mounts. I checked out customrcparts.com and was overwhelmed by how many aluminum style motor mounts that there were to choose from. The dimensions vary in all of them and none of the models specify that they will fit my exact motor (Turnigy D3530). I emailed them to ask which mount would work but no response I also checked out headsuphobby.com and they also make an aluminum mount (also not sure if it will fit my motor). I emailed them and got a response saying "It would probably fit the mounting holes for the motor, but the motor shaft won't clear the cowling on the Super Cub; that motor mount is designed for motors that are 36mm in length, whereas the Turnigy motor you have has a length of 30mm." So, should I just find any mount that can fit a 30mm brushless motor? Should I build my own? I also hear stick mounts are very adjustable.
