I'm not sure if this is a stupid question or not, but is this battery puffed/bloated? Attachments:

It does not appear to be from that picture.

It was just that it had that big lump on top I was slightly suspicious wether it was puffed or not

Puffed lipos are squishy, like full of air.

The Battery that came with my SC appeared at first to be "puffy" as it were....( I knew nothing about that term at that time) I charged it and used it and was fine...that same battery still "looks" odd and feels odd ( charges, discharges and checks and balances perfectly)....but after reading about Lipo's having a battery that feels odd or looks odd, does not mean it is "puffy / squishy" as it were in other words not a bad battery...normally when one starts going bad or "Puffs" the "Air " appearance is really noticeable...Liken it to a Balloon that has lost most of it's air , but just enough to let you know it is still a balloon that has a touch of air in it...and if you squeeze it you will see that one end rise up and the other sort of like mash down.....the battery will have that low air ballon look and that same "feel-or- squishiness " to it.
That battery Pic , still does not look like a "puffed" battery to me.

I have been doing my own research in the field of puffy batteries. Here's what I think. Direct sunlight, especially on a hot sunny day may cause puffy batteries. Flying Wide Open Throttle (WOT) from take off to landing may cause puffy batteries. That said, I do not leave my batteries in direct sunlight and I do not fly WOT. My research continues.....

My research continues..... Heat - excessive (140*+) ruins them. Draw - overdrawing the rating (knowing that C-rating in Chinese is often a made up number) or over discharge causes damage. The LVC cut-off for the Cub is NOT safe to fly to unless you like refreshing the battery stash routinely. Many ESC have LVC settings that are not battery friendly. No specs available (like the Cub)? Assume the worst. Storage - full charge for long periods causes damage. The warmer the storage > more and faster damage. High performance batteries are often worse than low performance. And the classic - crap battery, yes it happens. I've received brand new ones that were puffed, but worked fine and continue to work OK. I also have some near dead ones that are solid/hard as new. Sometimes there is just no tellin'. Read:sites.google.com/site/tjinguytech/charging-how-tos/

I was lured by the reduced price of this discontinued airplane at my LHS, so bought it this weekend. Once I install ailerons, it looks to a perfect park-sized trainer for my grandsons.
Anyway, the 3s 15C 1300mAh LiPo battery was visibly puffy upon coming out of the box. (Who knows how long this box was in stock)? So I took it back to the LHS. They said it tested good, but also agreed it was puffy and thusly replaced it. No hassles. (Mark Twain Hobbies, St Charles, MO, BTW).
