Yep, that's a well tried and tested method, jb, which has often been recommended on here. Good clear pictures!
Anyone who can't find a suitably small diameter screw-eye, use pliers to open the eye into an L shape, then snip off any surplus so that it passes easily through the wing strut eye. Then turn to lock, as usual.

I have use mine for a while now. I bent the eye bolts in my vise to make them into an elongated shape that threads through the eyelet holes very easily and stay put. Makes for a quick removal of the struts when necessary. This seems to be a good mod for those who want to give it a try. It has worked well for me, so far.

Coupe, I never cease to be amazed at the wealth of different good ideas on here - the result of lateral thinking. Your idea of flattening in the vice (Brit spelling )seems easier than mine of opening the eye and cutting off the surplus. I will have to try it. (BTW, I am always impressed at your informative pictures. Which program do you use?)

My photos are now shot with my Nikon Coolpix L620 camera. I was using my older Canon Powershot Elf 300 HS, but the battery finally died to it and I had broken off the battery case cover. I can still use it at times, but it is a real pain to deal with in getting the new battery to make full contact.

Thanks, but what I really meant was how do you add text etc to the pix? It's probably a simple explanation which has hitherto escaped this old man . . .

I open them in "Paint" to resize them and then add any text. Paint was on my old Dell computer when I purchased it years ago. It is a Microsoft Windows program I think. Hope that answers your questions.

I've taken to using cable ties (zip ties in American, I believe) to join both struts together under the plane, not pulling too tight, and avoid having anything attached to the battery box.
Simple to fit and remove the wing, and avoid the battery box being stressed.
