(Reposting from Troubleshooting thread) Hi all, I'm a brand-newbie with a new, all-stock, non-modified SuperCub LP that my son and I are learning to fly together. Emphasis on "learning"! We expect to have a few crashes along the way, and indeed, suffered a fairly bad one the other day: Nose-down lawn-dart type of crash that cracked the firewall. The prop shaft, amazingly, was not bent. Replacement parts (all stock) from Red Rocket Hobby in Oregon (Excellent service, by the way!) arrived yesterday. As I was fit-testing the firewall I noticed that the motor mounts to it in such a way as it's angled to the right slightly. Dredging up some old college physics from the depths of my brain, I surmised that this is done on purpose to counteract the rotational effect of the prop which would tend to pull the nose to the left. My question: The angle seems fairly severe. It this normal? The motor mount is clearly cast that way. I didn't notice the angle pre-crash, of course, so I have very little idea if it's normal, or more pronounced due to some foam crushing from the crash (though the fuse looks fine). I want to be sure this is okay before attempting to fly the plane again. I welcome your comments and sage advice. FatherandSon PS: I'd also welcome suggestions for the right adhesive to use to re-mount the firewall on the Fuse. Silicone caulking or white silicone comes to mind. What would you use?

If you cracked the FW I'd do a CAREFUL check of that shaft and the gearbox again. I strongly suspect more damage.
Right and down thrust is normal on RC planes, even on real planes. It corrects motor torque.
Silicone (bath) caulk is fine. Epoxy, CA, and Gorilla glue for the FW are bad ideas. Very hard to get off if needed in the future. Someone had an idea for putting a rubber cushion in the system for shock absorption that may work. Maybe they'll chime in or you can find it.

Flydiver, that was great advice! upon closer inspection, one of the motor mount screws on the gear box was indeed cracked. The prop shaft also has a slight bend which I missed the first go-round. Replacing all as we speak. Much obliged!

Here's the link: supercubclub.proboards.com/thread/4532/rubber-cushion-firewallRead it all because there are other suggestions there for cushioning firewall impact.
