Flight of the Taxi Cub...

No, not flight of the bumblebee - Flight of the Taxi Cub!
This is actualy my second flight with my Taxi Cub. The Maiden flight didn´t go so well, as I was pretty nervous and forgot to trim the rudder, which resulted in a Crash. In flight I always had right rudder, even when centered on the controls. The Landing gear was bent, and the Battery-case was almost ripped out. Not so bad I thought, as I looked at some of the crash pictures here on the board. Some people have worse looking Cubs to fix. So off I went to buy some glue, and some icecream for the popsicle sticks. Followed the modification for strengthening the Batterybox, and Presto! My cub was ready to take to the sky again. This time a Mobius Action Cam was onboard. The flight was actualy rather unexciting (video is maybe a bit boring - next one will be better). It was just a whole lot of wonderful fun. I´m so glad that I bought this wonderful little plane. Flew 2 Lipos, and had the fun of my life. And lo and behold: My little Taxi survived! Only my landings still need lots of practice, as they are often very hard (but ones that you can walk away from)! The strengthened wheels took their toll and held up beautifully. My Mobius Cam didn´t, as it flew out of its holding tray during a rather hard landing (Sadly it wasn´t on Video - still have to figure out why the camera stops filming every now and then). First thought that a wheel had been ripped off, before I realized it was my new camera rolling towards me...  My wonderful new Mobius now has heavy scratches on the front, but still seems to work :-). If you have some right rudder with the stick centered, and the trim centered, unhook the clevis from the control
horn, and screw it in or out to center the rudder ( have the tx on) when making adjustments, and trim centered

Well done Pete and a really enjoyable video. I noticed that apart from once you took off presumably into the wind but landed with the wind. Take off and land both into the wind makes easier touch downs. What a great flying area you have.

That was a cool video. Great place to fly. Wish I had that large an area and that open. One field appears to be a garden area, and very rough ground. Still a beautiful place. Was curious about the housing development, thought you were going to buzz your neighbors there for a moment....

Also always love those shots of pilots trying to land their planes on themselves....enjoyed that.

Thanks guys... It was a load of fun flying. It took me a while to find a large open space, with a bit of Concrete to take off and land on. Theres also a big grassy field as you can see in the video. It was suggested by the upstairs neighbors who go kite flying with their son there. The whole area is actualy the parking area of our local swimming pool. In winter its empty, and come summer, I will have to find another place to fly, because its going to be full of cars (even the large grassy field). I envy some of the people in other videos, that have a large park or sport field nearby, or empty , grassy, building lots just in front of their door. My brother has that, he only needs to step outside, and has plenty of space to fly. If I had that, I would be flying almost every day if the weather permits it. A real RC-Airfield nearby would also be cool. Trade experiences with other fellow flyers. As it is, I have to walk or drive about 1 km, before I can get into the air. For my next video, I may take a tour around my town, slowly walking back to our appartment complex. The street out front is big enough to land, with little ground traffic . Just have to keep the cub high enough (autopilot would be cool), and out of the way of buildings. We have a real nice old town center, with older german Architecture that might look nice from the air... We´ll see where my little taxi will take us in the future... Or maybe a trip round the otherway, through the vineyards... the "factory" across the street in the video is our local wine producer... As you have seen, I got my rudder centered, thanks for the tip. The little taxi flys great...

Not only the km but the reference to the old German architecture should have given it away...  . I live in Germany, near the southern city of Stuttgart.

lol :-) Yes I did spot the German architecture bit but that could have been other than Germany; they were not known to always stay within their borders. ;-)

Hi Pete,
 Great flying and I love the area. Very nice open area with the fields having no trees. Is the plane is to see at dusk with the Taxi design? You mentioned your camera ( I have the same one) stop filming, is it at random times? Mine was set to "break " the recording ever 6 mins right out of the package. I now have it set to ten mins as this is roughly a flight time.
        Something I have done with camera as well is at the rear of the camera if you look across at eye level you will notice a hole in the two rear corners. I put a small piece of electric wire though the hole at one corner and used heat shrink to join it to itself, make a loop, when the camera is going up I attach a rubber band though the wire and the attach to strut mount of wheel gear what ever suites at the time. This way I run less chance of damaging the camera should the hook and loop material come separated.
