Having lost my best animal friend, Murphy, a bit ago, I happened to see this video pop up this morning and I had to laugh at the various animals shown getting along together. Many dogs and cats shown and the music is easy listening instead of the normal loud rap and heavy metal that usually is attached to so many videos at YouTube. Someone sent me a pm when Murphy was mentioned here as to his death and they expressed support and sympathy. They mentioned they had cats and loved them the same as I had Murph. It was a nice gesture and I really appreciated it. This video sort of brought back memories of how loving a pet he was, as many times he had played with other animals and licked at their ears and all, just as the dog and the deer shown in the video. My mom's cat and her poodle had the same type of relationship many, many years back. If the video loads correctly, enjoy. The heart shown in it makes it sort of a neat Valentine type video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdlBauZQRHA

Pretty cute. The duck and rabbit were unusual. Made my head buzz.

I went with my wife to see Lone Survivor this weekend. The mixed communication with his Afghan friend's young child was hilarious when he wanted a knife to cut shrapnel out from his wounded leg. He asked the kid to get him a knife, but the kid brought him back a live duck, instead. It reminded me of Italy where I often said the wrong thing simply because I didn't know the inflection or word for what I wanted. I had told my Italian neighbor good morning and asked him for the time (momento ora termine), daily. After a couple of months, he asked me one day why I greeted him each morning and than asked for his gold (qui ora)? Apparently time and gold are two very similar words, but I had not a clue. I told my wife that if I ever go to Afghanistan, to remind me to ask for a duck whenever I need a knife. :-)

Always best to talk to "Johnny Foreigner" in English do you see? If they seem to be confused, always shout the instructions/request once more, together with utilising various meaningless gesticulations. If this doesn't work, get the footman to sort it all out, on penalty of his dismissal. Always worked for us, inundated with fresh duck, wonderful with a light orange sauce, prepared by cook of course!
Made an old chap a little sad this one, remembering his faithful cat of many years, loved beyond words, called "Tinker".
Pets eh?, just like relatives that leave you nothing in their wills, makes one cry.

Gads, CH, your slipping, as you didn't mention Marmite one single time in your above post. You must be in need of another vacation or something. :-)

Gads, CH, your slipping, as you didn't mention Marmite one single time in your above post. You must be in need of another vacation or something. :-) Ah Coupe my dear fellow, how pleasant to read your admonishment, quite rightly so as well. Forgive me old chap, but I have been preoccupied with bringing the servants up to scratch since our absence regarding our antipodean adventures. The female staff have been especially in need of one to one refreshment training by my good self and the only reason that I have been able to undertake this difficult, arduous but necessary duty alone is with the aid of, yes, you have guessed it, MARMITE. For those of you that have an interest in tea, and why would anyone not have such an interest I wonder, Lady CH has recently purchased, at a very reasonable price, a considerable quantity of YORKSHIRE tea. Having tasted the aforementioned tea, I have to say that it is jolly good. Robust, hearty, satisfying, pleasant and leaves one with an afterglow rarely experienced. Much like some of the female farm hands we have on the estate. Whilst visiting our old penal colony, I had our investigators searching far and wide and even as far as the end of our NSW estate seeking news of Dilzio. Unfortunately there is little to report. It seems that he may have vanished into thin air, rather like some of our Super Cubs in the early stages of flying. One can only hope that he returns to the forum in a refreshed and whole state as he is a valuable and most amusing contributor, in my humble opinion. Coupe, I am truly sorry for your loss of your good friend Murph, I can truly empathise, as I still miss and think of our old Tinker most days. Live long, prosper and can someone get this darn wind and rain to stop please?

It has been a severe winter here in Texas with today's temp up to a chilly 80 degrees and all. We have a severe cold front moving in and the temp may drop to 77 degrees tomorrow and 68 degrees the next day. No wind or rain to speak of, but the kicker to all of this is that my right heel cord decided to get severely inflamed and difficult to walk on at all. Means no flying until I can again walk about with something that a special hardened boot. I had surgery a while back, just after I got my SC, and it took a bit to recover enough to go walking or flying. Darn, looks like this other ankle has done the same thing. I am hoping that if I keep off of it, the blamed thing will get better without any surgery involved. Gads, it is cruel to drive by with my wife and pass my favorite fly area and not be able to get out and put in a flight or two since the weather is so very nice and cooperative here.
Thanks for the nice reply about Murph. Man, he was like a child to me and a special child at that. I am nowhere near over losing him, but at least God let me have some borrowed time with him before he took him back. Sometimes riches are not about money in the least. His love made me the richest man on this planet and I am ever so greatful to have had him as a pal, a buddy, a friend and a confidant.
We just sold our second home in Abilene, so once all the paperwork is complete and it is a done deal, there may be some extra cash about to look for another Bichon. Not to ever replace Murph, as that could never happen, but to be another friend. I love rescue pups, so perhaps I can locate a Bichon that needs to be rescued. Just a thought, but we shall see what transpires sometime in the future.

After spending over two and half months wandering around and spending our leisure time just dressed in shorts, a singlet and flip flops, enjoying sunshine, warmth, great hospitality, beaches that are really wonderful, as is the water, the fish, the beach and just the joy of being with people that care about their environment, I have to say that the Australian people, their immigrants and everyone that we have had the privilege to speak with, have a great time with and just enjoy this wonderful country, we have the greatest respect for all of the mentioned.
Lady CH and I, together with our servants, have had the time of our lives. If we could abandon this pathetic excuse for "Great Britain" "United Kingdom" with all it's faults, ( and they are in a multitude, trust me ) then we would not need a second request. Yes, we are working at getting out of this dreadful place in which we have had the dubious privilege to have lived for a lot of our lives. Once great, now a shambles of once was.
Weather, still pissing down with rain, cloudy, cold and dull.
Australia or New Zealand here we come. Are you ready?

I'm glad you and Lady CH had a good time M'lud but Australians care about their environment? That's a laugh, one of the most polluting nations on Earth and tearing up vast swathes of their country for ores and minerals to sell to the Chinese.

My lord CH... word of warning about emigration to aus..... yes I know the southern chaps are very hospitable to 'johnny foreigner'( that's you), off the aeromathing, straight into Shangri-La, what with the hotels and bowing and scraping ( Yes, yes, I know, It's like home from home for yourselves.. ) However... I used to know a chap ( used to be my employer..freemason, business owner..mucho moneyo..) emigrated, stayed for two years then came back...couldn't stand it, y'see. Plus Dillzio ( anyone remember him?) lives there!! Poof this, English thingy that.. No true pubs, staying in 'cos it was too hot ( must expain..he's a ginger) and to top it off, too much of the bastardised lingo! And this was in Brisbane! Go to north NZ...NHS, drive on the left and love the queen... what more do you want? ....And, they do allow servant abuse as a right of the upper classes. Win!! So..go to NZ! My missus has heart set on Canada ( we have rellies there..) however... once the sprogs have gone ( a few years yet...unless they re-introduce chimneysweeping as a valid occupation - ) I want to go to Fuerteventura as my resting place...warm, friendly and even the Spanish speak English... There you are..decision made...move to New Zealand! But not Tasmania, it's full of 'our country' nutters.. and not AUS.. as it's full of generational criminals, who think that anyone English has a PHD in buggery, advanced in sodomy, and is useless at everything.... Hoorah for your move to NZ!! And, they have ....Marmite!! There you go, made your mind up for you.... Have a safe journey!!

Yeah, Dusty, his girlfriend, is a wire hair Jack Russell, although she was not trimmed in these photos and may not look it because of that. Both rode together for years at breakneck speeds in my Ural hack. I really miss Murph as the best Pal ever, but I still have Dusty and she is a real hoot of a pal, too. Thanks for the compassionate note. Sorry for your loss of Whiskey, too.
