My Cub, only 5 Days young (arrived in boring Blue and White, last Saturday), and yet to take to the sky (weather is keeping the new taxi on the ground ) If I can`t go out for a maiden flight, then I´m going to practice some more on my pheonix simulator, so that all the hard work will stay in one piece come flight day. Still I think my knees are going to wobble a bit... -> yes, I´ve disabled ACT, so I should be good.

Hey, that's a beautiful aircraft, and I like the little piece of grassy turf! Nice paint job. Are you going to tell us what paint you used? (BTW - sorry for bad manners - welcome to the SCC. )

Glad to be here... I went to a nearby hardwarestore here in Germany (Obi markt) and asked for paint for foam. First thought of using latex paint, but the friendly salesman said "why dont you use acrylic paint. Its more durable, and also water based, so it won`t attack the foam. We can mix it in all kinds of colours". So I picked out that fantastic yellow, and they mixed it for me. I applied the paint using a sponge colour-roller. I sanded the cowl lightly with 1200 grade sandpaper, and washed all the foam with dishwashing detergent, as I read somewhere that the molds for the foam are coated with wax to make them easier to remove. The Paint is then supposed to stick better if the surface is oil free. Still have to find out if the Paint holds up during day to day flight, because if you accidently get some tape on the wing (as i did last night, while mounting the new wheels), you pull off the paint removing it. The stick isn´t that good, but I think it will do. After crashes (which I hope wil be few to none ) (yeh..., right.... and my "ass" is green too.... ), I may have to top up the paint job here and there. The checker patern is just "d-c-fix" (not sure of the english name for it) film that you can buy to cover furniture or cabinet shelfing. My cub is only supposed to be a learning steppingstone to my next plane: a B17 Flying Fortress (GASP! Blasphemey! Cut out that guys tongue! Or chop his Arms off! That sweet cub is to be flown until your old rheumatic fingers can´t move the control sticks anymore... )

Beware extensive paint jobs like that. There is more surface area in back of the CG than in front and if you don't watch it you mess up the CG. Paint can be heavier than people give it credit, especially brush or rolled on. Check it before you fly it. Nice job though.
