Hi, I have a HZ Super Cub that I will be learning on. It came with the RX aileron channel (Mode 2 so rh stick) activating the rudder, which the manual states is normal for 3 channel AC. But when I start to go to the next step and get a aileron model, the rudder will be activated by the lh stick. Would I be better off starting out using the lh stick for the rudder from the start, as the SC comes with a 4 channel DX4e anyway? I also have a DX5e that came with the Phoenix flight sim program, would that be a better TX to use to start? Thanks for any help, AndyL

Three channel planes turn with the rudder, in the air, and on the ground, four channel planes turn with ailerons in the air, the rudder is use turn on the ground. The dx4e,& dx5e are both specktrum tx he dx5e is a little better I my opinion.

Don't get stuck on the 'sticks'. You TURN with the R. stick (mode 2). If it's 3-ch, that means the rudder. If it's 4-ch that means the ailerons > THEN the rudder moves to the L stick. Keep it on the R until you go ailerons or you will get all (more) confused.
For your purposes either TX will be OK for learning.

Thanks all, after trying it on the Flight Sim, you're right. Rudder probably works on 3 channel model because of dihedral has not much effect on 4 ch plane.AndyL

Dihedral+ailerons > depends on the setup. In general more dihedral compromises the ailerons. Lots of 'trainer 4-ch' like the PZ Trojan T-28 have some dihedral, but not a lot.

Purchase a Transmitter that can be programmed to cover all the inputs....and mixing.....aileron and rudder mix, flaps and elevator mix etc etc.....and a host of other needs.
