I recently purchased one and I am actually having fun in learning about it. When I viewed the dozen or so YouTube videos though, I often find some of the comments of viewers to such pretty inaccurate or misleading and questionable. Also, who wants to look at comments that accuse someone of being gay or spouting pure nonsense. Unfortunately, the online owner's manual is not as easy to understand and as descriptive as it should be.
Any rate, I am working through the basics of the thing and enjoying myself a bit as I do so. It is certainly an improvement over the small charger I was originally using.
One thing that I noticed on the last battery I charged or discharged on the machine was that when charging, my power supply wall adapter got a bit warm after a while (didn't measure it for temp, but felt a bit warm to touch), but when discharging the same battery, the power supply didn't seem to get warm at all. It is a HobbyZone 1.5 Amp AC power supply with Max output at 13.5v, 1.5 Amp. Is this anything to be concerned about or is it to be expected? I am not familiar in the least with chargers and power supplies, so I don't really know what the norm is in this regard.

I will never understand where people use the term gay ( which means happy and joyous ) and have turned it into a sexual orientation.
Whats worse is using it to address something about a Battery charger and someones comments....Maybe they are Happy and Joyous with their charger, I guess can be pretty gay, especially if it works !!

That's a 50W charger. You need a minimum of a 5A/12v power supply. You are woefully underpowered right now and WILL burn out the PS. Better would be 6A and 12-18v.

Thanks, that is exactly the info I needed. I have several different ps units and will have to go search through the storage bins in my garage to see what is out there. May be a trip to my local hobby store though if I don't find what I need.

This will work if you don't find something. www.headsuphobby.com/120v-AC-to-12v-DC-5-Amp-Power-Supply-E-295.htmThe A/C units like this simply have that PS hidden it the fat section of the charger, where it doesn't cool as well. More amps won't hurt. Do NOT go over 18v! That charger is limited to 1A discharge, within the capability of the PS. Actually when discharging the PS is doing little but keeping the electronics going. The actual discharge is via a small resistor....which gets hot. That's why it's so limited. It can't deal with more current. Push charging over about 1.25A and that PS will suffer. It'll just barely do the stock 1300 at 1C (1.3A)

Thanks for the source and info. I just ordered one and I also needed a Deans connector with 4mm bullet plugs. All the connectors in my unit are set up with XT60 connectors which work well for the Bixler, but not for the SC.

Learning to solder is just about a requirement in this sport. I went from lousy to at least passable just because of RC. It certainly helps with this complete lack of connection standards. Some of the players go out of their way to use and distribute proprietary connectors to lock people into their products.

Yes, but you still have to have the necessary ends available, too. Example: HobbyKing frequently has the female XT60 connectors on back order, so, without both pieces, male and female, your out of luck. Even though they claim they will notify you when they stock them again, I have already found that to often not be the case at all. I just happen to want to keep both Dean's and the XT60's for the variation of different batteries and such I use. I guess it is a grip strength thing with the arthritis in my fingers, but I usually find the XT60's easier to pull apart at the connectors than the Dean's.

A good while back. Not worth the pain.
