Hello all,
I finally bit the bullet after wanting to get into the hobby for years and bought my first RC plane. I bet you can't guess what it was…thats right…a P-51 mustang!!! Just kidding!! I was a frequent visitor of RCGroups.com until I found this forum. I lurked for a few days to see what it was all about and decided to join. I picked up a RTF Super Cub with a portion of my bonus from work and bought Real Flight 7 as well. I got a DX8 from RCGroups so I think I am ready to rock out with my socks (G version) out!! I look forward to learning alot from you guys and possibly meeting at a fly in.
My list of goals
Take off (pretty sure I can do this with 9 years of sim experience) Land (safely) Wheels, Ailerons, Carbon Spar and flatten wing Eflight Park 480 brushless, etc Econocote plane
Any insight you guys can provide would be awesome

Welcome to the club. Regardless of all the time in the saddle (SIM), I'd put just a bit of time in flying the stock SC before making all the mods (goals) you are looking at. It is impossible to not get carried away a bit before one tries out and gets the first flight under them, but often the first few flights can result in repairs that sort of make all the mods a bit more costly to start out with. Take a good read through all the pages here and you can get some great ideas and insights. Enjoy your SC and enjoy the banter and info here, too. Share your own experience, good and bad, as you get in some personal flight time and make your goals/mods along the way. Welcome, and by the way, glad to hear your not constipated, as revealed by your avatar. Crazy Horse will probably credit that with a good Marmite diet. :-)

Arh yes, Marmite. Welcome Mike and yes, it would be nice to meet up but with an ocean between us not likely. So glad I found this SC forum, lots of friendly people giving good advice. I've only been here myself for nearly two months but feel quite 'at home' so to speak; I'm also still waiting to have my my first flight as we are experiencing one of the windiest and wettest winters in memory which seems to be without end. It's a real exercise in patience I can tell you. Attachments:

Welcome aboard, Mike, and all good wishes from the UK. I get the impression you are the sort of guy who will have great fun with your new hobby! Be prepared for some disappointments, lay in some glue, take it slow and easy - and enjoy yourself. Good luck, happy flying!
