Hi all!
New Super Cub pilot from Indy here. 4 flights complete now and confidence is growing quickly. Even pulled a few loops from safe altitude on the last flight of the day. And when I say last flight, it very nearly was in a literal sense.
Turning onto final approach over the local church, the battery went low voltage, motor quit, nose dived, pants messed (lol), tried to recover, lost sight, flared the nose blind and heard it thud into something on the roof.
Long story short, the pastor and I are now friends, I am a new member of the church, my super cub was recovered, and I am ready for my next flight, weather permiting. Funny how things work out sometimes!
So currently looking for safer places to fly in the Indianapolis area. Also thinking of adding a sonic combat module to my toy box. Would be a blast to hook up others in Indy for some good natured cub combat. Anyone else into sonic combat in Indy?

Welcome to the best place for Cub pilots!
And yes, nothing like losing sight of your bird at the worst moment to help you find religion, although you may have taken that to new extremes.
Great luck, and again welcome.

Welcome aboard, and greetings from the UK. From bitter experience on more than one occasion, I can confirm - Beware that final flight! See my motto below.

My sister lives up near Indy, at Avon. Her hubby works at Conseco Fieldhouse and at the Indy 500 track. He retired from Chrysler after about 34 years. Too cold in that part of the country for me, as I like the warm Texas sun, myself. :-) Welcome to the club.

Thanks to all for the welcome messages!
I am really enjoying all the threads, and have learned quite a bit already from other members posts.
I'm also in agreement on the weather up here in Indy. Its looking now like the flying season is over and its just a waiting game till spring. I am hoping to be proven wrong on that assessment!
I lived in Houston for 22 years and know exactly what you mean about the mild weather in Texas. And after 12 years back to my home town of Indy do I miss Texas? Absolutely! As they say, you can take the boy out of Texas, but you can't take the Texas out of the boy!
