I do not have a lot of strength in my hands. I guess I may be overly hesitant to push the landing gear fully into the slot of the battery box, but even with trying to push the wheels together, this is about as far as I can get in pushing the landing gear into place. I have rocked each side and tried to hold the battery box inside the fuselage as I pushed the landing gear into the slot, but it just does not seem to want to go any further than this. I don't believe that it is fully in place, as it is. I have read what I can find in pushing the wheels/landing gear into place, but am at a standstill at present. Is it any easier to remove the wheels when putting the landing gear into place or is there something special that I am missing in pushing the unit fully into the battery box slot correctly. Do you feel some sort of snap when it is correctly inserted into that slot? Like say, rocking didn't seem to make much difference. Thanks for any tips and advise. I have to be out of town for a few days, so I can't get right on it for a bit, but this is probably the most frustrating thing I have run into at present. Like say, my arthritic hands do not have much OOMPH to this sort of task. :-( Sorry for the dark photos, but my camera battery was weak this morning.

Not sure here coupe but I might double check that your battery box mods haven't increased the original "depth" of the box?

No, I believe that was already checked, but I can even hold the battery box in place for steadying it more from the opposite side as I push the piece into the slot and the landing gear does not seem to want to push up any farther up into the slot. I have some thoughts as to some other things to try out, but my big mitts do not do well in confined areas and I sure do not want to break anything by being too overly forceful. Anyone have a photo of the inside that shows what the landing gear should look like when fully inserted into the slot?

Here's a pic for you. I have removed the battery box cover for a better view. (Avert your gaze from the surrounding damage and scars. This is a really old lady! ) You will see that the landing gear needs to be pushed right down inside its slot. To achieve this, it is usually necessary to compress the two sides firmly together (see page 6 of your Instruction Manual). Compressing the wires can be difficult for anyone, possibly worse for you. Like jklong, I do wonder whether your battery box is too far down? The landing gear slot should be almost flush with the hinge of the battery box cover. (Don't be confused by that big hole at the bottom of my battery box. I cut it out to accommodate lipo batteries - I load them horizontally.)

Coupe, Just for a second opinion, here is a shot of my LG seated fully. There must be something preventing yours from getting down this low (and no, I don't mean your fat hands!) don't you think?

That innuendo remark reminds me of a joke I just heard this weekend.
How can you tell a naked blind guy at the nude beach?
... it ain't hard. Badda' Bing! :-)
Thanks for posting the pics and the info. I just got back into town and am not going to even tackle the Cub until I take a break for a while. I may hve to go in and do some dremel surgery, but I hope not. I actually got some various items to use as a semi-push handle like you would use on a table saw, to push the landing gear into the slot with more force. I can get pretty creative in making such mods of equipment to meet my needs. I may not be pushing the wheels together as closely as I should though. I'll check it all out and see what gives.

After some viewing of the photos above and some Dremel art work, I did indeed get the landing gears locked into place, okay. That was my problem, in that I had not trimmed out the holes for such enough and it was just enough to interfere with things. I just have to do some finish sanding, pop the cover plate back into place and make sure my holes are all aligned to secure the battery box, now. Got to put the battery door back into place and lock down the skirts, too. Looks like I was wrong in not thinking it was my mods that had created the problem. Thanks for the input and photos above, as it all helped. Yippy, yippy, yippy! :-)
I had gotten permission to fly at a local area the other day before I left for a trip to Abilene. When I came back, I happened to pass by and saw a grandfather and his grand kid flying a micro-plane. They were both having a great time together, but it was their first time at the field. It was a great day for them to be out flying, as the heat had gone away and the wind was calm. Hope to be out there before much longer...
