So, I just recently picked up 4 LiPo batteries. It's looking like I won't get to maiden for roughly 3 more weeks. Should I take these batteries out of their packaging and go ahead and charge them to "storage" level, put them in a Ziploc and stick them in the fridge? Or, should I just leave them alone until it's time to take that maiden flight?
Thanks, Chappy

Lipos should come at storage level. If they don't the seller screwed up. You SHOULD check them as soon as you receive them but DO NOt alter them (solder things on, cut wires, etc.). If you do there is not returning them usually. Check full voltage AND individual cell voltage. (You do have tools for this....right?)
If they check out, you should charge them and recheck for full charge and individual cells. (Don't get bent out of shape like some folks do over some bitsy 0.02v difference, that's trivial. Anything less than a couple % is OK. If they check out again, then discharge to storage. At storage level minor cell imbalance is normal and nothing to worry about unless it's getting pretty noticeable. Ziplock and fridge are at your discretion. I do but it's not critical. Keep 'em cool, NOT hot!
If they don't measure up, AND you have checked them, AND you can document it, AND you have not altered them, then you have a running chance at satisfaction from the seller, IF you are up to the hassle.
Long answer, but that's the way it is. Too, much trouble? Ignore all the above, store 'em as is, and hope they are OK when it's time to use them. Most likely they will be.
I've only ever received a couple slightly puffed batteries. I sent the seller (HobbyPartz) pictures and they sent me replacements...also slightly puffed. They denied there was a problem with this batch of cells. I gave up, but the cells seem to work fine anyway. Oh, well. I have received some 'crap' lipos but they passed the tests above. They just didn't make it past 20 charges. Such is the lipo lottery sometimes.

Thanks for the thorough response FlyDiver. I'll be taking your advice. In regards to tools, I have this charger and this checker. Forgive my ignorance, but are those the tools I need, correct? Thanks again, Chappy
