I have some diy camera mounts made for both my key chain cameras and my Mobius. I prefer the Mobius, but the 808 cameras are half the weight in most cases, so that is a factor in using such for sky videos. Still, what works for one will likely work for the other when it comes to camera mounts though. My plane is not ready for flight yet, but I spent a few moments today in looking over some camera mounts and possibilities for placement on my Cub in the future. I love shopping at local thrift stores & finding things that may serve other purposes than what they were initially intended for. That was the basis of this particular tube mount. I have not really worked out just where I feel it can have the best placement on a Cub, but I have only played with it for a few moments at present. The part is light weight, even with the camera and rubber band attached to it. I may have to play with the mount a bit more to ensure that it does not have any sideways movement when put into place on the wing. Even if I looped a piece of gaffer's tape through the hole in the tubing, I could attach it on a wing tip or such in that manner, I suspect. Trial and error is the only real way to check it out though.
It was cheap and the kicker is that the surgical band on the original part can probably be cut into individual prop saver bands. I doubt I paid more than a dollar for this piece, but I got it too long ago to remember for sure. The foam and tube can be cut in any length, so my Mobius can have a longer piece than the key chain cameras. I used a hack saw to cut the piece for use. I would likely turn the camera around and film the tail and scenery, as the prop wash may be too much with the noise level and I am not really fond of videos with the props chopping through the air in waves.
This is just a diy camera mount in progress. I learn from experience, both negative and positive, so no telling how it will work out.
