You know what HG? You're starting to sound like an expert - in a good way! Asking the proper questions, proposing your own answers, and then getting blown away by bulls*it! My own personal opinion is an expert is someone who can understand what the problem is, diagnose, then fix the problem, and then use that knowledge to HELP others. And if not, be honest enough to say 'I don't know.' If you ever get into helis, go to RCgroups, beginners section, and look up Cap'n Jack. Total expert, and HELPS people endlessly ( Bit like Fly, really!) Don't get too down on the forums, there are some genuinely helpful people in there. Guess you must have gone to the d.ickheads forum by mistake!

AS3X - usually means micros, which mostly means small beginner planes. Some are more advanced but those pilots probably couldn't fly them without the AS3X. This makes them insecure. Insecurity makes them have to puff up and defend them selves. No surprise. Bravado and bluff covers a multitude of ignorance. It's an evolutionary thing I guess. Must not look weak or get eaten. It's a bigger deal for men than women. They have to look prettier or get ignored. Men can look like slobs. Wait, how did we get here? This is turning into a Vegemite discussion. LOL!!

Just something interesting to view and then ponder. When I posted my first post, I went to the member board to see who had the most posts here and what category they generally posted in. I was surprised that by the first couple of days on this site, I had almost as many as most of the regulars. My posts were mainly addressing thread information that was older and the threads had long since died. In fact, many never actually showed a resolution if a problem was discussed or held enough interest to keep them going. Many were more than 2 years old, so putting on a reply was probably irritation for some to see, but I could not figure a way of doing it without repeating something that had already been discussed previously. It was sort of like when my dog decides to unroll a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. The paper has a ton of sheets, but the most useful purpose is obviously not really for the dog to be thrilled as he runs down the hallway with the end of it in his mouth. At least reading all the posts (tons of sheets of info)here made me quickly determine just whom I could rely on for the best information. It also showed me that not all agree on almost everything related to re flying, plane construction, mods or so forth. In addition, it also allowed me to see current posting and figure out easily just who is new to the sport, as I am or sort of figure out the humor of some and try to match it in what I post.
I sort of laugh a bit as I can fully relate in my hobby of my sidecar. It is the same exact way on that site and often the info is poor, the source is never determined, rumor betrays fact and lot of folk become immediate experts by the number of posts and not the content. Many end up ruining their motorcycles and always blame the manufacturer or someone else, other than themselves. I have actually made bets with myself as to how quickly one of the experts will have a major motor issue or end up selling the hack rig. So far, I should be out in Vegas placing bets, as I am getting pretty good at the winning the bets I have made with myself on such issues.
So far, here, it has been pretty quiet and pretty interesting as I progress in my learning of this Cub and it's unique features and quirks. I have joined a couple of other rc groups and each is a bit different in some manner. Trying to tie all the info together would make a sane man cry, but slowly I am learning from everyone. The first pm I got was regarding some things I should not do in order to have a positive experience and keep my interest in this hobby. That info was taken to heart, too. I am having every bit as much fun in construction of my "so called" RTF Cub as I will in actually flying it. It all goes together and it is nice to find folk who are patient enough to provide pointers and not get too overly worked up with answering the same questions all the time. I have always owned Model A Fords, so you would not believe how often I have heard, "My Grand Dad had the same car with wooden wheels on it."... in case you didn't guess, Model T's were what Grand Dad likely had and not a Model A. :-)
If you look at some of the helpful videos on YouTube, one of the most favored ones has a ton of negative comments when the person explains why to get rid of the ACT. It seems that no matter what one suggests, there is always someone out there to say they have a better way, they know better, call you names or disrespect your opinion. Nice to find a site where that is a bit limited. :-)

Off topic but deadly serious and urgent - Toff, please remove your self-portrait avatar and reinstate Sigourney. There is no contest. And it is putting me off my whisky.

It seems that no matter what one suggests, there is always someone out there to say they have a better way, they know better, call you names or disrespect your opinion. Nice to find a site where that is a bit limited. :-) Yeah I get that. I asked on another post and probably made a crazy one out of it, was why do people make You tube videos and make reviews of a certain plane and all you see is it setting on the ground then taking off and you actually never see it again maybe if your eye sight is better a little black spec in the sky every so often. No talk, no information and then at the end they say , well that's my review of the so and so plane ? And people say that's a great review and it flew awesome and i am setting their reading those comments and saying WHAT ? And when one does make a great video and with step by step commentary and explains what the plane is doing the good and bad etc etc..most comments are hateful and talking smack, and they get ran down. Makes no sense at all. Btw, I to look back and see I made allot of posts, most just ranting, but always at some point I get the best advice and the best information and sometimes just a simple acknowledgement, that alone says volumes. I just post , if answered I appreciate it and if not I appreciate that to.
