I'm going Orange with my upgrade - if HobbyKing ever gets the transmitter and receiver to me! Geez. Anyway, my question: I don't find pics of the receiver showing a port into which the Cub's x-port plug can be inserted. Will I still be able to boot the little paratrooper out of my plane by going ORX? Thanks in advance.

Nooo. Sorry. The X-port is a proprietary port for use with add-ons solely used by hobbyzone. You can rig a bomb/ para drop device, but the X-port device will be defunct once changed to Orange 2.4.

If they were out of stock of EITHER item, they won't send anything until ALL items are in stock. Generally not prudent to order an out of stock item unless you really don't care when you see it. It can take months.
Check the Orange TX over carefully. There have been a lot of problems reported.

Thank you guys for your answers. Sorry for this late response - couldn't find my way back here. (And he calls himself a pilot?)
Anyway, understood on all counts -- may do alternative bomb drop method at some later point; ORX items were not out of stock items - yet still very long getting to me; no problems or malfunctions with Orange Rx stuff yet after 30 some flights. Well, rudder was reversed but easy fix.
I have since ordered that HK Skipper seaplane. It is out of stock. And I am quite ticked off with this delay. The good pricing of HK products does not outweigh the frustration of unavailable products and long waits. I am now collecting other retail listings.
