Gonna be my next purchase, first of the month. Guess I am just looking for comments in general about this plane. I know multiplex planes general have a great reputation and I already have read about all I can about it and know that my first modification will be the floor stiffener kit.
So I guess I just want someone to make me feel good about this choice.

Figure it is a bigger and even slower Cub with ailerons and flaps. This is something you don't see often in manufacturer's literature: [Ultra-docile flying characteristics]
My buddy got one and he loves it. He's also destroyed 2 Cubs, 2 slow sticks, and a couple of Easy Stars which are all easy trainers. He's horrible with small or fast planes.
You want an 'easy chair' plane. Go for it. It's a higher grade plane than the Cub. You want a performance upgrade, keep looking.

I realize it is capable of slower, more stable flight, but the videos I've seen it appears to be capable of speeds comparable to the SC with the right motor setup. I mainly wanted to play with the flaps (gotta use those 6 channels I just bought last month, huh?)and have the rougher terrain handling I hear about. But thanks for the feedback fly. I guess at heart I do kinda want an "easy chair" plane, so long as I can get out of the chair and have bursts of fun. I also wanted to try a plane with the Ailerons included from the get-go.

Flaps + TX setup were over my buddy's technical skill so he glued them shut (tape would have been a better idea). So, I can't advise on that from experience. It appears to be a style and size that flaps might be effective, though it lands pretty slowly anyway. Lots of people here are eager to try flaps but end up putting them on planes where they are as useful as nipples on hog.
I'm sure you can find an entire thread on RCGroups or Wattflyer, maybe both.

Yes, I have read most of the massive thread on RCGroups and I didn't mean to cross-post non SCC questions. I just value all of the member's opinions here. I had heard that Multiplex engineers a fine kit and was wondering if anyone here had first-hand knowledge on the subject, or the Fun Cub in particular.

JK, I have both a SC and Fun Cub.
I'm brand new to the sport; my hanger opened in late July with a Champ. When I realized its light weight was going to restrict my flying to days that are still or near still. So I did a bunch of research and settled on a Super. But also saw some really cool vids of Fun Cubs.
I had just dropped a bunch of cash on Phoenix 4 so SWMBO wasn't thrilled with the notion of another new plane. So I hit the local classifieds and found a used Super with new wing and stab and elevator, e-max outrunner, receiver and servos for $80. That's getting close to my range.
As luck would have it, the same fellow with the Super was also selling his brand new, never flown, Fun Cub complete with 2, 2200mah batts, and all electronics. Asking $200. For reference, the Fun Cub kit is $200 in my LHS.
He's getting out of the hobby so also he's selling his Futaba 7c 2.4mhz radio for $200.
I ask him why he's selling, said he doesn't have time to fly so he moving to woodworking.... Well I just happen to have a fully equipped woodworking shop, was there any thing he'd was looking for?
Long story made somewhat short. I have now have two serious planes and a computer radio. Plus space in my shop vacated by a few tools I hadn't used in ten years.
If the weather holds I'm going to fly both this weekend. :-)
