Quick one for those from the UK - If you use a DX4/5e/6/6i or any controller that uses AA batteries - Aldi are selling a pack of 4 2300mah nimh for £4.99. Seem to work brilliantly, and are ready to use from the pack. Bargain!!

OK, they needed charging but no problem there and all works well. Sorry Toff, I didn't mean to steal your thunder.

If you are going to buy NiMh for a TX I strongly recommend you not go on price OR capacity, ESPECIALLY capacity. Many rechargeable NiMh over 2000mA capacity are garbage. When they get up to 2500+ they are even more suspect. If they are cheap too, almost for sure they are garbage that will not have the claimed capacity and will self discharge rapidly. For free they aren't really worth having much of the time. If you don't have a GOOD NiMh charger to validate them, you'll be working in the dark, and probably falling down. A TX has a very low draw and they can often sit around for a long time. 'Normal' NiMh lose ~1/2-1% capacity/day just sitting (dead in 3 months). The older and cheaper, the worse this problem is. This is not an optimal setting for poor batteries. Put your $$ in quality Limited Self Discharge (LSD) NiMh. In the USA the poster battery for this is Sony Eneloops. There are lots of others. 2010 AA Low Self Discharge battery review - e-group.uk.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12087

I was going to use these in my battery operated shaver and my battery operated nose hair trimmer (you old gits know what I mean). They also work exceptionally well in my rather old but still working tape recorder. Additionally, they seem to work without problems with the remote that controls the lighting in our lounge and dining area. Splendid value. Putting them in my beloved DX6i? No way old chap! As Fly says, only use quality with the things you truly love, which is your Super Cub. The shaver is working splendidly by the way and also no nose hair now! Time for a MARMITE sandwich and a cup of Earl Grey.......

I was going to use these in my battery operated ... nose hair trimmer You know what works GOOD in those, PowerGenix PGX-4AAZiNc-1.6v High Voltage Rechargeable AA Batteries www.amazon.com/PowerGenix-PGX-4AAZiNc-1-6v-Voltage-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B0029LHXG2The voltage boost gives it a bit of a needed performance upgrade. Don't know if you have them over there. You need to be selective about what to use them in as they can burn out some things. The also work well in the older Canon digital cameras that take 4xAA as it then cycles better. Earl Grey? Yuk! Who ever thought of putting bergamot in tea? I suspect when mixed with Marmite the combo becomes toxic to normal life forms.

I don't care! My risk and they seem to be fine, so they can sit in my Dx6i.... until A) they need recharging, or B) I hear a crunch, and then start blaming various phenomena for the loss of control... Earl Grey? Yuk! Who ever thought of putting bergamot in tea? I suspect when mixed with Marmite the combo becomes toxic to normal life forms. Never happen with YORKSHIRE tea! Made with the finest teas, scoured from the farthest corners of the world, hand picked by dainty maidens, carried by stout, brave hearted yorkshiremen, battling against all odds, to deliver the most wondrous elixir of life that is YORKSHIRE tea!* *(may possibly not be true, except for the bit about wondrous elixir, obviously. 'Cos otherwise it would be a bit stupid, wouldn't it? And the bit about finest teas...that's probably true as well....and it is definitely made in Yorkshire......sorry, what was the question again?)

It's fascinating how we veer wildly off-thread late at night, when the demon drink affects our faculties!

It's fascinating how we veer wildly off-thread late at night, when the demon drink affects our faculties! Ahah, dear sir, No alkyhol at all was involved in the production of my post. I was merely trying to point out the efforts made in the strivance for perfection that is that wonderful tonic of life: YORKSHIRE tea!

I just take delight that I can type just one short, seemingly innocent sentence and sit back and await the comments!
