I have a Spectrum 6 ch transmitter and purchased a 6 ch receiver. I want to add ailerons, flaps and will be using the floats with a go pro mounted. I am looking for recommendations on a good set up. OK, I'll try to help you with this advice - don't make Smart Alec comments when someone is offering sensible advice with good intentions! From your original post, I too formed the impression that you were a newbie looking to run before he could walk.

First thing first - where are you as regards flying experience? First plane? Second?

Here is my setup all from HeadsupRc.com
It rocks! fast and fun! A good set-up for the HZ Super Cub is:
450 Sport (includes 4mm prop adapter) 32A Power Up ESC (I used a spare E-flite 30A I had) GWS 1060 prop (2) TP SG90 Servo (typical 9g micro servo) Supercub motor mount they sell I use 3S lipos from 1550-2200mah 20-25C
Shipping is wicked cheap as well from headsuprc. I think like 2.00 and I had everything in a couple of days.
Then I sold all my stock electronics for 60.00, so I pretty much broke even.
My setup

Also put packing tape on the inside of your cowl, they break easily. I also tape the length of the leading edge of the wing to help protect it. Disable the ACT, will only cause you to crash.

Thanks Toff This electric HZ Super Cub is my 3rd plane. I use to fly a lot nearly 20 years ago with power gliders and then a gas powered super cub that was a little bigger than the HZ Super Cub. I am really amazed at how far technology has come over that time. I have had the HZ Super Cub for a couple of months and have no problem at all flying it taking off and landing. I am really impressed with the little plane but I am now looking for more and after seeing youtube videos and post on this site thought it would be fun to upgrade the Super Cub. Here is what I am looking at doing and then you could help steer me in the right direction. I have a new spectrum 6 ch TX I am upgrading to a SPMAR6210 DSM 6 CH RX Looking at: Turnigy Park480 Brushless Outrunner 1320kv HobbyKing 40A ESC 4A UBEC Battery ? Prop ?? I want to add alierons and flaps as well. So far I have flattend the wing and added a CF rod for reinforcement I have not made any cuts to the wing for the ailerons or flaps. I want some help on basic equipment that is good to have with flying electric. Like a watt meter, ect... Thanks again

ThePark480 1320 KV motor is too much KV. Go for the 850 KV motor instead. I had the The Park 480 850 KV motor in my super cub and it worked great. Also I used a 9.5 x 7.5 prop and had great performance. www.horizonhobby.com/products/propeller-9-5-x-7-5-PKZ1012For Battery I would use a 2200 battery and mount it vertically to the front of the plane using velcro. Also for a receiver you can use an Orange RX R615 from Hobby King. It will take a while for you to receive it as it is shipped from their international location. Its only $6 and work extremely well. I would order a few of them while you are at it for future builds. hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__28554__OrangeRx_R615_Spektrum_JR_DSM2_Compatible_6Ch_2_4Ghz_Receiver.htmlThanks Toff This electric HZ Super Cub is my 3rd plane. Actually i tried The Park480 1320 KV motor just for the heck of it on my super cub. And I must say wow. It is a bunch of fun with the 1320 KV motor. You have unlimited vertical with that motor and can even do some hoovering if you have the skills. My wings currently don't have any carbon fiber in them yet so they look like they will fold if you do crazy high g moves. I recommend that you strengthen the wings though if you plan to fly this at full throttle.

You have to figure what you want to do with the plane. Obviously this is not 'stock' or scale flying. It's pretty popular to seriously overpower planes now. Some folks like stock flying. It's actually harder to do.
For a given motor size/weight, a wind with a higher KV will, in general, have and handle more power at the expense of needing a smaller prop and loss of efficiency. Big props turning slowly have more efficiency and thrust. Small props turning fast give you speed. With high drag and a trainer configuration the Cub is designed for slower flight. You can put a (large) 2200KV motor with a 6x4 prop on it and it'll fly. Take off will be lousy and response to throttle will lag but it'll go pretty fast once it gets going if something doesn't rip off.
Hover the Cub? - I think there are very few with the skill to actually do that.
