Not sure if this has been posted before, but I haven't seen it.....so......
If possible, please describe your feelings on your first successful flight with landing...
For myself, absolute wonder! I'd been trying on and off for nearly 20 years with balsa gliders, with varying degrees of success, always ending in a crash.
I tried different plans, sizes and types..crash,crash and crash... Then I got a GWS slow stick, at age 36 ( I first tried RC flight at 16) It flew! Round and round, and crash... but it was in the air for a long time...roughly 5 minutes! Well, repairs and more flights ( and crashes) followed, until it was unflyable. Then I saw a Supercub on eBay, marked as a trainer.. Bought complete, built..flown. Ahhhhhh..doing what I wanted it to do, going where I wanted, and the very first landing... smooth as glass. Besides the birth of my children, I honestly can say this was the most hoped for event in my life - even higher than sex - which at 16 is, I admit it, weird..... but I had that, children, a house, car, etc, far before flight....
My heart was pounding, And I was physically shaking after the flight ( I still do that on the first flight of every plane, new or old - that's my 'dialling in' period. Once flown and in the air, it goes away.. or possibly I'm senile... After all, I'm a very old 41 years... ) The only way I can truly describe it, and please remember, I've been with my 'missus' for over 19 years, is as a new love...warm chest, sweaty hands and the knowledge that she is yours, and only yours...Hmm, what a strange thing feelings are...
Got to admit though, as the years have gone by, she's now an old love. Newer models have replaced her. My love for her has changed, I no longer 'love' her, I cherish her, and I know for a certain fact, I will never sell or remove her. Teacher and workhorse...best plane ever. PA 18 supercub.. Love You!
