What does the SC do when it gets out of range of the transmitter? Does the motor stop?
Several times now, like once per flight, my motor pauses for a fraction of a second. The plane is at the far end of the field and the tip of my antenna is pointing at the plane. Is there an antenna radiation node? Anyone else experience this?

This will happen on ANY RC plane. Your antenna transmitts data from the antenna outwards. If you POINT the antenna at the plane you are creating a potential VOID in the radio band.
Hold your antenna upright and picture little waves coming out of the side of it. The waves do not come out of the TOP of the antenna. Only the sides.
(This isnt the best explanation of it but it really does happen). Almost any RC'er can tell you NOT to point your antenna at your plane. This WILL cause the plane to glitch sometimes...

This will happen on ANY RC plane... This is good news. I rationalized that the cutout was the antenna void, but I was worried that I may have found end of the TX range. I also wanted to make sure it wasn't some intermittant failure. So what will the SC do if it gets out of range of the TX? Do the servos center and the motor halts? This would be the safest reaction.

you will lose sight before you will lose the radio more then likely. they rang is 2500 feet, which is almost 1/2 mile. motor glitch can be caused by a few things, radio interference, radio void and a lose connectors.
