Hello everyone. Brand new to this hobby as of yesterday and had my first crash yesterday( I almost expected it). Now I need a new cowl, wing strut and new wing hold down pins. My question is when I get the new parts, do the wing hold down pins glue in place or together and what glue is required? Thanks in advance for any suggestions! It was a short flight before the crash but I can already see why this hobby is so addictive!

Welcome, and congratulations on your early 'christening'! ;D Unless the design has changed, you will find that the wing hold-down rods have a removable cap at each end (may need a bit of brute force to remove). Remove one cap, then push / pull the rod out - it passes right through the fuselage. Refitting is reverse procedure. As you may need to repeat this process sometime in the future , I recommend you do not use any strong glue. Silicone is possibly best, although you may get away with no adhesive at all if your new rods fit tightly. And if you're on a budget, there's no need to buy new rods. Dowel of the correct diameter works just as well - simply affix your old end caps. Also, do you really need a new cowl or will the old one patch up with some tape inside? Unless you want to spend money and have a hobby shop on your doorstep with spares readily available, SC flying is very much a question of 'make do and mend'. Pleased to see your positive attitude to initial disaster. Best wishes for future success (which will undoubtedly come!)

Yeah the cowl is beyond taping up, but thanks for the info.

Hi Hogie and a very warm welcome. Glad to hear you are hooked on this hobby, actually it is not a hobby, my mistake, it is more a way of life. All the best for flights to come.
Ian, surely your whole aircraft must be mostly tape after recent events?

Yep I did manage to tape up the cowling, I never realized packing tape was as handy as duct tape. Cowl is not very pretty but is ready for its next meeting with the dirt! The little plane is almost ready to go now just need the wing hold down pins, gonna make sure I keep some spares too!

Ian, "Yes CH, but it bounces when it hits the ground now...." It is just a shame that I didn't bounce when I hit the ground and broke my hand! At least I am taped up now.
