I used 2.3mm carbon rod with some ball links CA'd on the ends. They are secured to the gear by o-rings which keep them in place but allow some flex. At the fuse attachment points I used some 1/16" light ply to reinforce. I used CA there too, but if I could do it again I would use epoxy or Foam Tac for a more flexible joint. But they have been holding up fine with the CA too.

Yep, I tore down this Cub the day the UPS man dropped it off, and replaced all the stock gear
