Just wanted to introduce myself, new to the RC flying hobby, have been racing on-road and off-road RC for awhile, but my brother is into flying so here I am. I bought a Super Cub DSM about 3 weeks ago, have already been out a couple of times with it. Here is a video I made of my first day out (hopefully link works): youtu.be/95h5eYJv_tE

Frank, I really enjoyed this video, thank you for posting. Was it your brother, perhaps a little younger than yourself that took this footage? If so, respect. I am so glad that your brother has steered you in the correct direction in R/C, a wise chap IMHO. In the air is good! Getting airborne is not so difficult, it's the landings that are a bit of a problem. (At least for me). The Cub is a robust old lady reasonably easy to mend, please post more video's when you can.

Actually it was my wife that was taking the video. She will also be flying soon, as well as the kids.

Oh, magic. I really respect a family man. They are the most precious gifts in this world.

Welcome aboard, and congratulations on your first flights. Congrats also to your wife - filming a fast plane is not easy.
Forgive me if I am mistaken, but I get the impression that you are a little heavy on the sticks. Don't use too much throttle (left stick) - take it easy, half throttle is usually more than adequate. Or perhaps you were fighting the wind.
I really envy your hard runway and wide expanse of tree-free flying space!
You're doing well. Continue having fun.
