Really enjoying your site. I have never flown an r/c aircraft in my life, but have always wanted to. I do however, run a diesel locomotive with a remote control, for a paycheck. Anyway, after doing some web surfing, i have concluded that the HZ Super Cub is where I'll start. Ordered it the other day should be here sometime next week. We shall see how this works out. Like I said, really enjoying this site. I generally just lurk, but thought I'd say hello.

A warm welcome from over here in the UK. When that lovely box arrives, be patient. Carry out the modifications recommended on here and on YouTube (look at NeCubFlyer's videos). Disconnect ACT. Take out public liability insurance. Choose a calm day for your first flights. Use only the very gentlest movements of the control sticks. Do not fly too close to the ground - give yourself plenty of airspace in which to learn and to correct mistakes. If a crash is a certainty, killing the throttle and lifting the nose (pull back on both sticks) often mitigates the carnage as she hits the ground. An experienced buddy at your side is worth a dozen instruction manuals. Do not let misfortune dishearten you. The overwhelming majority of flyers suffer mishaps, especially while learning - it's an inevitable part of the hobby. Have fun.

Well got the SC the other day, really the wrong time of the year to buy a r/c plane. Wind is blowing crazy out here. It'll give me some time to get the essential mods done and practice on my flying skills with a app I downloaded for my iPad.
Thank you for the welcome.

Welcome to the forum from Soggy Sussex! There is no such thing as the wrong time of year to buy an RC aircraft. As for the wind blowing like crazy, it might not be too bad a thing as it will give you time to do the basic mods and remove the temptation to just give it a quick try first! I wish you blue skies and calm days, happy flying.

I agree fully with Crazy Horse. Get all the mods done and it will be a better experience overall.

I was wondering about your user name and thought it rather unusual. I was going to ask you about it, but then took a really good look and then saw that you drive a locomotive for a living. Freight Train, brilliant. Well I think so anyway, forgive an old chap but I am not much of a "texter" and only just got it! Any advance with the mods? Post some pictures when you can, I always enjoy seeing other people's handiwork. Happy flying/crashing/repairing. ;D
