Hello all, I have been flying my SC for around a month now and OMG its sooo fun! Some of the things I would like to be able to do are A.) Add Aelerons/Flapperons? B.) Add Drop Module or HomeMade version C.) Reuse Radio equipment as I progress in the hobby D.) Brushless Conversion? E.) Not spend my retirement money or convince my wife this was a bad hobby to get into:) I have been looking at the DX6 model (A little pricey) but I noticed it said "For Park Fliers Only". So what type of planes can the DX6 NOT be used for? I was thinking sometime down the road I would probably like to get a PT40 trainer maybe? For now its strictly Eleltrics - I <3 my easy to fly plane lol Is there a competetor radio kit that has all the same gear the DX6 comes with but cheaper? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated...

cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=220122788958&rd=1&rd=1Check this guy out. I buy all my radio's from him and love them. I love the radio in this link. It is my second one (only because I ran out of room for models on my first one) It comes with charger/battery/radio for cheap. I buy gws rx's for around 15-25 bucks depending on the number of channels. Then you find a channel you like and buy a bunch of rx crystals. You cannot beat this radio and all the mixing/features for the money. AND Futbaba has been around since adam. Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for the tip. I hate to ask more but hey (Imma n00b) lol
Lets say I wanted a 6 channel rx? What would be a good GWS RX to get? Also what servo's would I purchase for the SC? And finally, which battery goes into the plane?

they don't really state a distance the dx6 is good for anymore, but some one had some an old copy of the specs for the dx6 and i believe it said 3k feet. i have seen reviews were people said that they had no problem with over 2k feet range test. i think its more of a legal thing, so if someone puts a dx6 in there giant scale plane and flies out of rang and hurts someone it can come back on them.
i would think a 40 size trainer should be fine with a dx6, if not the dx7 or futaba fasst system are nice too and they say are good for any plane, just cost a bit more.

Do most servo's work with most RX's? Like are brands interchangable?

Do not put a Dx6 in a PT40. You will lose it. The range is not sufficiant. The best first nirto trainer I have come across is this one. The Hobbico Superstar. They are about $300 but worth every penny. I still have one and fly it. It is what I use to train people who want to fly nitro planes. It comes with everything included, the engine is easy to tune, powerfull, and reliable. It really flys good. the radio will also work in the SC but I would use a GWS micro reciever and some submicro servos. The best part is if you crash the superstar and it is beyond repair a new plane will only cost you 100 bucks and you can put the original motor and radio in it. www.hobbico.com/airplanes/hcaa60.html

Well, I got a new radio. I got a Polk's Hobbies TrackerIII with a Seeker II Receiver. I need some suggestions on the following items.. 1.) charger for a NiCD pack (The tx was used and didnt come with a charger) 2.) ESC - I think I need a 25A ESC for use with the stock motor? 3.) 4 Servo's (Which size and which brand?) 4.) Lipo Battery? (Can I use the stock NiMH battery with this radio gear?

The ARF version. Took a little assembly but not too much. Just finished finding all of the plane , ending with the tx about a week ago. We never flew it due to the fact we knew we'd crash it for sure. Just started it up and trimmed her out. I'm getting ready to fly it in probably a few months now that I'm feeling like i'm getting pretty good. The firewall rattled loose when i broke a prop during motor break-in last week. Should I just epoxy the firewall back in so that it fits perfectly flush with the fuse? Also, it came with a Futaba skysport 4 radio. How is this radio in relation to the dx6, as I'm worried about losing the plane?

Anyone have opinions/experience with this radio: www.gpdealera.com/cgi-bin/wgainf100p.pgm?I=FUTK56**I'll be making the SC brushless in the very near future so I'm looking for a $200 or less setup that includes Tx, Rx, servos, and it's something I can grow with. This Futaba kit seems pretty nice and I've found it online for $179 w/4 servos. Not sure what the LHS is selling it for.

Fox. You should check out the size of the servos it comes with. They are a lot bigger than what your using at the moment. It would be good if the LHS would change them for something like the HS 81's

Thanks SCC, I didn't notice the servo size until you said something. I'll probably go with the K54 package which includes micro servos.
