Here is my first test with the iPod Nano (5th GEN with 8GB). Picture quality of the you tube video is lower than what i actually got. Orientation is portrait looking down and slightly forward. The ipod is taped under the fuse right where the engine cowling ends and heading backwards towards the battery box. I used electrical tape which worked very well. They key to the nano is to start the video with the orientation you want and it is set at the point. You can turn the iPod at all 4 right angles to film, just make sure when you start the video, it is oriented how you want the video (then you don't have to rotate later with an editing software). Next I will try taped to the side of the fuse in landscape, then finally, forward looking landscape with it taped under the fuse using the landing gear struts. That one will be interesting as it will probably add a lot of drag.

I am going to try the forward looking landscape video tomorrow on my lunch break. This means the Nano will be blunt against the wind under the plane. Does anyone have experience with a go pro or nano (something with some surface area) mounted under the plane? I am specifically wondering if the drag will cause substantial problems with flight. I am probably worrying about nothing, but thought I would ask. I moved one notch in on the control arm of both the elevator and rudder (I was set on the farthest out) to give me a little more throw just in case I need it.
