Just found out about this place and thought I'd post this as sort of a hello and here is the video my wife recorded of me going it alone with my Super Cub for it (and my) maiden RC flight Yes... I know the usual advice is to fly/learn from someone that has mastered this stuff... I don't always do what I'm told.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJ3FJ1YzjQ8and here is the video from the next day when my 15 yr old son took his maiden flight with his SuperCub www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4u4kCbb6Tk

Hey, that was good!
I like your sense of humour (sorry, humor . . . ;D).
If that really was first time for you and Ryan, I am impressed. Ryan in particular seems to be a natural and soon got the hang of things.
Although I don't envy you the snow, it seems to provide a much better take off and landing surface than we have with wet grass.
Good luck to you and your son for future fun with the SC - although I have a feeling Ryan will soon want to move onwards and upwards to something more exciting!

Indeed it was the first time for both of us. Now.... to add a little more Paul Harvey flavor to it (i.e. the rest of the story)..... I did buy us a copy of Phoenix RC 4.0 simulator a couple of weeks before we took our first flights. So we had lots of practice put in already at all the many many ways we could crash and make a mess of it. Certainly that helped to make us better than we would have otherwise been!
One of the biggest worries I had before the actual first flight was that I would find the SuperCubs actual performance would be very different than in the simulator. Luckily that wasn't the case. I think the simulator was really an excellent representation of how it reall flew. We practiced in the simulator in a lot of windy conditions as well, which really helped I think.

Great flying guys, two thumbs up.
Couldn't have chosen a better plane, to learn with.
All the best, RCbyAIR
