So, back on October 24th I had a total electrical failure and my Super Cub gently landed into a 60ft monster tree. Well, after letting a Li-Po go through everything you shouldn't, such as full discharge followed by 2 months of below 0 temperatures......I finally got the plane back. Those of you wondering why I didn't cut the f---er down immediately.....I live on a military base and they tend to frown on tree removal for reasons such as mine. Fire wasn't interested in helping, my neighbors didn't really want to help out since it was usually -30F or colder during these two months. However, one neighbor had computer problems which I offered to fix in exchange for a chainsaw and some good timing. So, around 1030 am...or sunrise as we call it this time of year, we snuck out to the tree, fired the chainsaw up, sliced as fast as we could and kaboom.....down came baby, cradle and all ;D ......only damage, a snapped wing.... Damage report: Besides a snapped wing, the ESC was non functioning. The Li-Po was completely ballooned and also solid at the same time. The engine worked and both servos functioned when I plugged them into a new receiver. Lesson Learned: Stay away from trees altogether. I will be flying near the Chena Flood channel since it is a super flat drainage area for floods that never happen out here in Fairbanks/North Pole area. Either way, baby is back!!!!! Now I have two....

How well did the the internals fare after the freezing/thawing?

Looks like it's been gnawed by chipmunks! Is it really that 'fuzzy'?

She was literally just pulled from the frozen clutches of -35F....props to the tough little cub. The fuzz is ice accumulation. SHE WILL RISE LIKE THE PHOENIX ONCE AGAIN! New ESC, RECEIVER, SKIS, WINTERIZING, NAV LIGHTS, BWA HA HA HA! Now if only that sun will rise before 11am.....

Glad you got her back. How well did the the internals fare after the freezing/thawing? Short answer, they didn't. LiPo was (frozen) toast after arctic exposure. ESC was DOA. Structure was sound, servos and motor sat in rice until they were dry, work fine. There was no thawing. Coldest was -40 ..... Below zero for two months.
